Run to Remember Los Angeles is a 5k, 10k, 9.11 mile run, or Murph Challenge in honor of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice defending our Great Nation on 9/11 and every day since.
Run To Remember honors the past by raising funds to serve families of those who have fallen. It honors the future by raising funds to enable first responders to best serve their citizens and communities. By directing funds to its partner charities, the race supports a variety of community programs such as police mentorships, education and scholarships for youth, equipment for local police and fire departments, at-risk-youth programs and veteran support.

The 9.11 Mile 1st Responder Challenge
The 1st Responder Challenge began with the Boston’s Run To Remember. Each year departments from across the globe field teams of 5 or more runners who compete for a cash prize to their own favorite charity. It was this challenge that lead the LAPD to invite the Boston team to produce the inaugural LA race in 2016.
THE CHALLENGE
Field a team of 5 or more runners to complete as a team in the 9.11 mile run. All runners must be sworn first responders on race day.
Your team's 5 members race times will be averaged to determine your team score
The fastest teams in each category will receive a cash donation to a charity of their choosing or use it within their department to better serve the community.
Murph Challenge
Michael Patrick "Murph" Murphy (May 7, 1976 – June 28, 2005) was a United States Navy SEAL officer who was awarded the U.S. military's highest decoration, the Medal of Honor, for his actions during the War in Afghanistan. He was the first member of the U.S. Navy to receive the award since the Vietnam War. His other posthumous awards include the Silver Star Medal (which was later upgraded to the Medal of Honor) and the Purple Heart.
A workout named "Murph" was created in Michael's honor and is often performed at CrossFit affiliates, military bases, and Navy ships across the globe. The workout consists of a one mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 air squats, and a final one mile run. The pull-ups, push-ups, and air squats can be partitioned and scaled as needed.
Participants will be required to wear a 20lb body vest (male), 14lb body vest (female). This workout was one of Murphy's favorites. He called it "Body Armor" but it was later renamed “Murph” in his honor.
