January 9 - February 7, 2021
This event sprang from a desire to employ a new platform to promote self-care, wellness, and bring awareness to health disparities within the African American community. Heart disease, cancer, strokes, and diabetes disproportionately harm African Americans in our country. These issues often result from a lack of awareness and/or lifestyle choices. So we want to offer a healthy option that enables anyone to take control of their life and be active, whether you’re new to walking/running or a seasoned marathoner looking for a new challenge. When you select this virtual race, you’ll also be contributing to a few charitable causes that share our desire to identify and close the health awareness gap.
While we know there is no shortage of virtual events to choose from, we hope you’ll join us to kick off 2021 on a good foot. We can be what we see! So, isn’t it time to “Run For Us”?

The Virtual 5k is designed to give you ample time to complete the race. The official start date will be Saturday, January 9, 2021 @ 10a(EST) and you will have until Sunday, February 7@ 5p(EST) to run the distance and upload your results. Register 4 or more people at the same time to receive $5 off each registration!

2021 Run For Us Virtual 5k Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)
1. Can I donate to a charity instead of registering for the virtual 5K?
Yes. Once you visit the event registration page, just click on the radio button that says “Donate Now” and select the charity or charities of your choice.
2. Will any portion of my registration fee go toward the charities?
Yes. A portion of each race registration will go towards each of the charities. The amount is yet to be determined and will be based on each charity’s fundraising success at the conclusion of the event.
3. How does a virtual 5k run/walk work?
It’s simple. Once you’ve registered and have entered the race window (January 9 - February 7, 2021), you’ll have the option to run and/or walk at any place and time of your choosing. The goal is to cover the 5k distance (3.11 miles) and enjoy this time you’ve allotted for yourself. Upon completion, we ask that you visit the registration page and click on the radio button that says “View/Post Virtual Results”. Then search for your name and enter your completion time and submit. Please don’t forget to share your finish results, photos, and swag on our social media pages. You just might inspire someone else to do the same.
4. How do I register and join a team?
Once you select the registration link, you’ll be prompted to provide your individual information and answer a few questions. Then you’ll be asked whether you want to add yourself to a team. If so, then click “yes” and type in the name of the team that you either want to join, or to create. Please ensure that the name of the team is accurately spelled out.
5. How do I upload my 5K results?
Upon completion, we ask that you visit the registration page and click on the radio button that says “View/Post Virtual Results”. Then search for your name and enter your completion time and submit.
6. Can I receive a refund if I decide not to participate?
No. There will be no refunds offered. With a virtual race, you will have 30 days to complete the 5k at your discretion.
7. Is there a shipping fee for my race packet?
No. Each race registration will include the cost of entry, medal, bib, and shirt option. As a matter of fact, this would be an ideal time to purchase any extra items from the online store as the shipping cost would be waived as part of your race packet!
8. How soon can I expect to receive my race packet?
Please allow 4 – 6 weeks for the shipment of your race packet and/or store purchases. Our goal is to get all participants who register by December 1, 2020 their respective packets/store items by the virtual 5k kick-off date of January 9, 2021. All registrations after December 1st will be batched and distributed in the order that they were received.
