Why Should You Run the Garmin Kansas City Marathon?
- This is Kansas City’s largest and most exciting annual race event and it gives runners a tour of the city’s most beautiful landmarks and cool neighborhoods, including the World War I Memorial, the Country Club Plaza, the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art, Waldo, Westport, 18th & Vine and more.
- All runners will receive a Garmin Kansas City Marathon branded participant shirt, finisher’s medal, FREE downloadable race photos, FREE food, beer and massages at the Finish Line Festival.

Admission to the Health and Fitness Expo Presented by Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Kansas City is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. Stop by to sample food and drinks from local purveyors and to check out the latest and greatest running gear! Interested vendors, please complete the vendor application to be eligible for a booth.
All runners MUST pick up their race packet at the Health and Fitness Expo. PLEASE NOTE - there is NO late registration or packet pickup on race day.
If you are unable to pick up your packet in person, you may designate someone to retrieve it on your behalf. To initiate this, you MUST complete the Packet Pickup Authorization Form and the person picking up must bring:
- A copy of your registration confirmation (digital or printed)
- Their photo ID (the person picking up the packets)

Registration entries and race numbers cannot be transferred to another person under any circumstances or used by registrant in subsequent years. Registration fees are non-refundable in all cases regardless of inability to participate or event cancellation. The race director reserves the right to cancel the event because of weather, natural disaster or other unforeseen circumstances which pose a significant danger to the participants.

Refund Policy

We understand that COVID-19 has created uncertainty around in-person events that will continue into 2021. If a registered participant has concerns about participating in the race in-person, or if we are forced to cancel the in-person event due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are offering the following options:
If participant wishes to cancel their entry, they may choose any of the options below:
- Participate virtually and receive your race packet by mail
- Defer your registration to 2022 at no charge
- Transfer your registration to another participant for a small fee

Virtual Participation
Participants have the option to participate in all 4 distances virtually. If you are unable to join us on race day, or do not feel comfortable with the in-person race, sign up for the virtual options and complete your race at anytime and anywhere! Race packets and finisher medals will be available for pickup at the Health & Fitness Expo, or will be mailed to the address on your registration the week following the Garmin Kansas City Marathon (Saturday, October 16, 2021).
Changed your mind after registering? Simply transfer to the in-person event by following the instructions below. IMPORTANT NOTE: The Garmin Kansas City Marathon will open registration with a capacity of 5,000 total participants. Transfers may not be available if the sub-event has been sold out. We will continue to work with local city and health officials, and if deemed safe to do so, will open up additional registrations at a later date.
Transfer Instructions
1) Sign in to your Race Roster account
2) At the top left of this web page or on the right side menu, select the “Transfer” option
3) Select “Transfer to a new sub-event”
4) Select the sub-event you would like to transfer to, and complete the registration
5) Be sure to re-select any products purchased in your original registration. Your original payment will be credited at the checkout screen.
6) At the checkout screen you will be charged the current sub-event price minus your virtual race entry fee*
