SHOOTS & LADDERS 5K & 10K ROUTE CHANGE NOTICE

UPDATE as of 6/1/2021: Due to the recent rain and flooding at Oak Point Park, the trails have become unusable. The excessive amount of mud and standing water on the trails causes us great concern for the safety of our runners and has influenced our decision to use an alternate route. Additionally, more rain is in the forecast and we do not foresee the trails improving by race day.

The route change caused a slight change to the Event Schedule. BOTH the 5K and 10K will start at 7:30 AM. The course will remain open for 2-hours and will close at 9:30 AM. Both contingency routes are USATF certified. 5K participants run 1 loop to complete the 5K course. 10K participants run 2 identical loops to complete the 10K course.

Participants should arrive a minimum of 30 minutes prior to the start. Police will shut down E Spring Creek Pkwy beginning at 7:00 AM. Participants WILL NOT be able to ENTER the parking lots at Red Tail Pavilion after 7:00 AM. Late arrivals will be directed to remote parking at Collin College. Please arrive early!

Please note: There will be NO EXIT from the Red Tail Pavilion parking lots until AFTER 9:00 AM. If you must leave the venue prior to 9:00 AM, please park at Collin College.

This is a rain or shine event, provided the weather does not present a hazard for our runners, volunteers and partners. We will update the website AND send an email to all participants should hazardous weather cause a postponement or cancellation.

Walk, jog or run! This event is for all fitness levels.

Benefiting Plano Police Association and Plano Firefighters Association, Red Tail Pavilion at Oak Point Park is the perfect Start/Finish location for a 5K and 10K run. Runners and walkers will enjoy a beautiful route through Oak Point Park and nature preserve.

All race participants will receive a 4-inch finisher medal, a gender-specific technical shirt, and bib. Definitely a cause and race swag worth running for!

All proceeds from this event benefit the Plano Police Association (PPA) and the Plano Firefighters Association (PFA). The PPA and the PFA are fraternal, benevolent and charitable 501(c) organizations dedicated to serving the needs of their members and families as well as their community. Their mission is to honor those who serve our community and ensure the safety and well being of all citizens.

PLEASE NOTE: There WILL NOT be a Dallas packet pickup for this event. The Dallas Academy Sports & Outdoors store has a conflict with their schedule and is no longer available to host packet pickup for this event.

• The Top 3 Male and Female in the following age groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+
  

(Age Group Winners must claim their award on RACE DAY from the AWARDS tent. Awards will NOT be mailed. There will NOT be an AWARDS ceremony.)

Unable to attend? Prefer to "shelter in place"? No worries - participate as a Virtual Runner. Registration includes virtual bib, shirt, and finisher medal.
