Laketown Distance Festival Run / Walk * SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 2021
Distances - 10 Mile, 10K , 5K
Where: Kenner lakefront - Event site is located on Lake Pontchartrain at the end of Williams Blvd., just west of the Kenner Boat Launch and the Treasure Chest Casino.
The Kenner - Lakefront jogging pathway offers an excellent location for multi distance run/walk events.
Time:
7:00 am - Race day packet pickup and Race day registration opens at race site

8:00 am - Start of 10 Mile & 10K Division
8:15 am - Start of 5K Division
The Laketown 10 Mile, 10K and 5K distance events offer excellent and economic training opportunities in a quality race environment great for the many upcoming MARATHON & Half-Marathons that take place ALL OVER THE Universe .. !
PARKING: Plenty of " free " parking at Lakefront Parking lots by the race site and on the south side of the levee between Williams Blvd., and the Pontchartrain Center.

ENTRY FEES: * Reasonable for middle to long distance races (compare to other distance race fees upwards of $50.00 to over $100.00)
10 Mile: $40.00 by November 30th, $45.00 by February 7th , $50.00 on the day of race
10K & 5K: $25.00 by November 30th , $30.00 by February 7th , $35.00 on the day of race
Youth ( Age 17-under ) or Senior ( Age 65- Over ) You get $5.00 Off entry fee thru February 7th from regular entry fees

Event Safety and Quality control policy details:
*Please review the COVID pandemic safety measures policy details ( scroll down to review ) Appreciate your attention to this matter so that we are able to produce and host a safe event. NOTE that we offer a VIRTUAL registration option .
* NORSI / NOLArunning.com strongly suggests to NOT use any headphones, ear gear or similar devices that limit ones ability to hear important event instructions.
* Please be respectful of other runners/walkers on the course. This event course is on a paved jogging pathway that is narrow ( about 9 feet wide ) keep to right side on way out and back. Please use trash cans located nearby each course water station. If discarding clothing on course , please place at one of the water stations. There will be a lead bike for each distance, no ear gear to be able to hear instructions from bike rider regarding oncoming lead runners. ( Keep to the Right.. !! )
* An EMS unit will be stationed at the race site and Levee district police officers will be on course during the event. Should you need medical attention or see another participant that needs medical attention please wave down the nearest levee board officer or a volunteer at each water station to relay details to the race site EMS unit.
* Due to the course ( narrow ) it is recommended that no pets be permitted.

COVID - 19 Pandemic safety information
Safety Protocols for the Laketown Distance Festival Run/Walk
NORSI/NOLArunning.com encourages all entrants and spectators to consider the following:
- Wear a face mask when at race site except during the time that you are participating in the run/walk on the course.
- Observe social distance ( 6 feet separation ) and be respectful of others as well as let others know if not using proper social distance as required on date of event.
- Before you leave to attend the event, should you feel ill and/or run a fever please consider staying home
- Do not congregate in groups of more than 10
- Pre-race day packet pickup ( see details posted on registration page ) is encouraged to minimize day of race packet pickup crowding. Registration will be available at pre-race packet pickup locations to minimize day of race registration crowding.
- Do not gather at the start area until near the posted start time. Pending COVID status we may start in grids.
- Upon completion, please put your mask back on and continue to the post race festivities area.
- For your own safety consider bringing your own water bottle, hand sanitizer.
NORSI / NOLArunning.com staff and volunteers will be wearing masks and if distributing any food / beverage items will be wearing gloves
Water stations on course will be stocked with bottled water and water in cups ( you decide ) all volunteers will be wearing masks and gloves at each station. Please use trash containers placed near each station ( Keep your course clean )

Award divisions:
5K: 1st overall and 1st, 2nd place age groups: 14-under, 15-24, 25-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80-over
10K: 1st overall and 1st, 2nd place age groups: 19-under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-over
10 Mile: 1st overall and 1st, 2nd place age groups: 19-under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 ,70-over
Race Walkers: 1st, 2nd, 3rd overall in the 5K. Awards for Race Walkers in 10K and 10 Mile race to be determined
* If competing in the official Race Walker Division, please check in on day of race at Race Walker scoring eligibilty table.
Scoring / Timing Systems: Event is CHIP TIMED, Timing chip is attached to back side of your race number bib. Please wear bib on front only and visible to finish line officials. Do not bend the bib or timing chip please.
