Welcome to MaraFun 2021: A Virtual Experience. Our 10 + 6 week programs, support, weekly newsletters and more + a race day in your own community.
EVERY TEAM, requires a TEAM LEADER.
1) 10 Week Program begins March 15
2) 6 Week Program begins April 12
3) *NEW Mara-Family-Fun Program begins April 12. Four family members (including 1 or 2 parents), everyone receives t-shirts (before t-shirt deadline) and medals!
While the final race date is normally the last Sunday of May...this year your Team Leader will pick your Race day between May 24 and June 24, 2021.
We recommend your final race be after May 30th, so the MaraFun Committe has time to send you your MaraFun Kits (t-shirts, medals and more!)
Included in your 2021 registration:
- A finishers medal.
- A free 10 Week or 6 Week easy-to-follow training program from Craven SPORT services.
- A t-shirt with an area to personalize your built-in race bib.
- Digital MaraFun race certificate.
- Access to our MaraFun Private page with additional content, videos and more.
- Chances to win great prizes from the Saskatchewan Marathon partners and sponsors.
- Plus a few surprises sent out in the "MaraFun Race Kits"
STEP 1 -- (School) Team Leaders: REGISTER yourself as a Team Leader and create your team name. Click the REGISTER button to your right. Please then share your team name with your team/parents. To come back and see who has currently registered on your team, click VIEW TEAMS on the left side.
*Parents: If your child's school is not able to participate, you may create your own team, with the understanding that YOU are the TEAM LEADER. Please register yourself as a Team Leader first...or register through the new Mara-Family-Fun Team
*If you are new to the Program, please be sure to email me or call and I can walk you through the process. Students/Parents need to be aware of their Team Leader and their Team/School Name to register correctly.
STEP 2: We will provide you with the registration package with complete details. Starting March 15, Team Leaders AND Parents will receive weekly newsletters with running tips, nutrition tips, videos, updates and more.
STEP 3: -- PARENTS: REGISTER your child by clicking 'Register' and selecting the MaraFun Registration INDIVIDUAL REGISTRATION USE ONLY option (note parents must sign waiver for students).
*There are some cases where the Team Leader may choose to register their whole team.
The NEW 2021 MaraFun 10-week and 6-week program will be provided to each Team Leader once they register. .

SASKATOON ROAD RUNNERS ASSOCIATION
Basic Information:
- Registration – an adult signs up as a Team Leader and registers a team name. Then students (or their parents) can sign up on that team afterwards.
- The 10-week running program began March 15.
- The 6-week running program begins April 12.
- The date for your run will be scheduled between May 24 and June 24 by your Team Leader - 2.2 km’s in length. Your children will have run an entire full marathon throughout this running program. Lots to celebrate after all their hard work and training.
Support:
1. Weekly EMAILS: Each Sunday, Team Leaders will receive the weekly program material to lead your MaraFun Team.
2. MaraFun PRIVATE Webpage - watch for an e-invite from Saskatchewan Marathon to set up your access. This page gives you access to the materials you need in one handy spot so you can download or print what you need including the entire MaraFun Program and the MaraFun Progress tracker. Other resources will be added along the way.
3. Zoom Coaching sessions: Local fitness leaders will help you and your kids have a great experience this year. Watch LIVE:
- Thursday, March 25, 7 PM – For TEAM LEADERS– YOUTH COACHING – how to be successful! -
- Fridays -2 PM - April 16 – May 21- For Kids - Mara-Fun Fit Friday
Before your race
Team Leaders will receive a MaraFun Kit that includes medals and tees for your team along with other goodies to make your Race Day extra special.
Other Information:
- Take lots of pictures and share them with us! It is a day to celebrate a great achievement!
- There is no timing of the MaraFun participants.
- Please have your runners dress for the weather. On a cold day, layering your clothes is the best thing to do.
- Please wear your MaraFun t-shirt to your event. There is a license plate on the front of the tshirt - have fun decorating them and making them your own. We can’t wait to see them!
- Remember, every student is here to complete the 2.2km’s. Please keep your comments positive and encouraging!
- Please limit the number of non-participants on your course. This is the students’ time to shine.

MaraFun is a program developed by the SRRA and runs in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Marathon. The MaraFun is for youth 13 and under to participate in the Saskatchewan Marathon in a novel way. Each MaraFun participant will run, walk, or wheelchair a minimum of 4 Km per week in the weeks leading up their race day. MaraFun participants cap off their hard work with a fun run on their own local course on race day. The cost of this program covers the training program, tshirts and medals for each participant. Throughout the program, there will be opportunities for the participants to learn about an active lifestyle, maintaining a physical activity program to promote health, and the importance of having personal goals. It is truly a unique way for youth to increase their activity levels, nutritional knowledge, and self esteem.
