  • You can ONLY register for this event online on Race Roster (no in person registrations)

  • Run solo or on a relay team of 2-5 mixed or same gender

This is another event where all the proceeds after expenses (no salaries are paid to anyone involved with this event) go to support Olive Tree Projects which is a humanitarian privately managed grass roots not for profit birthing/maternity centre in Jacmel, Haiti founded by Sarah Wallace from Devon, Alberta.


Horses with riders and humans on foot will go head to head in a grueling 50 mile race to the finish. Humans have raced humans for centuries. However, humans v. horses, is another story but not a new one. They have battled it out quietly in races for a couple of centuries according to some records. Of particular interest is that In 1941 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Robert Bower raced against a horse in a six-day event on a half-mile track. It was a close race but on the fourth day, Bower withdrew withdrew because of a sore toe.


This will be a fun filled affair and encourage you to join us on this new adventure as a racer or volunteer!!!

Two races will be offered:


  • 50 mile team relay

    • 6:00 am – 6:45 am pre-race check-in/bib handouts.
    • 7:00 am start time
    • for all 2-5 person mixed gender or non-mixed gender relay teams


  • 50 mile solo

    • 6:00 am – 6:45 am pre-race check-in/bib handouts.
    • 7:00 am start time
    • for all solo competitors

2021 COVID 19 NOTICE AND REFUND POLICIES:


In anticipation of operating this event in 2021, if COVID 19 is still present, we will implement measures to reduce the transmission of COVID 19 in accordance with Alberta Health Services COVID 19 best practices and recommendations and will revise our website to inform you of this protocol.

  • Should we have to cancel this event 30 days or more prior to race day we offer 4 choices:
    • full refund less the Race Roster administration fees,
    • deferral to our 2022 Race the Steeds ("Steeds") event ,
    • deferral to any of the race distances in our 2022 Hill of a Race ("HOAR") event, or
    • deferral to any of the race distances in our September 25, 2021 Rivers Edge Ultra ("REU") event.
  • Should we have to cancel the event less than 30 days prior to race day we offer 4 choices:
    • refund 80% of your entry fee less the Race Roster administration fees,
    • deferral to our 2022 Steeds event,
    • deferral to any of the race distances in our 2022 HOAR event, or
    • deferral to any of the race distances in our September 25, 2021 REU event.


PRIOR TO BEING ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS EVENT YOU WILL HAVE TO READ AND AGREE TO THE TERMS OF THE EVENTS RACE WAIVER.
