On June 28 2013, a cloud to ground lightning sparked what would become the
deadliest wildfire on record in Arizona.
The fire claimed more than 8,000 acres and 127 structures in Yarnell,
while taking the lives of 19 members of the Granite Mountain Hotshot firefighter crew.
The Yarnell Memorial Run was established in 2014 in memory of the 19
and in honor of their families.
Yarnell is located 25 miles north of Wickenburg on State Highway 89,
and is nestled between Antelope Peak and the Weaver Mountains.
The area is known as Yarnell Hill, boasting an elevation of 4,800 feet. It is surrounded by state forest.
Visitors are greeted by Yarnell's appropriate slogan,
"Where the Desert Breeze Meets the Mountain Air".
This mountain air is crisp and clean; views are unrestricted on Yarnell Hill,
where you can see 10 miles or more!
The live event in Yarnell will be limited to 500 people.

COVID Policies
Due to COVID-19 there will be changes in place to keep everyone safe.
- Water coolers will be back out at all water stations. Bottled water will only be available at the finish line.
- All StartLine staff will wear masks.
- Participants will be required to wear a mask in the event area but not out on the course.
- Social distancing will be required in the event area

Virtual Run Details
Of course we want you to participate in the Yarnell Memorial Run event locally but we know things come up. So, if you can't join us on race day and still want to run, get the medal and the shirt then you still can! Here is your way to take part in this event no matter where you are! And of course, all prices include shipping! Prior to the event all virtual participants will receive an email with instructions on how to submit your time.
Please note that all items will be shipped following the event on June 5th.

Race Day Information
Race Day Check In starts at 5:45am. The actual event in Yarnell will be limited to 500 people.
Strollers are welcome but please note the course is a mix of dirt and pavement.
Leashed pet friendly event.
We will have a bag drop for this event.
There will be 4 parking lots available in Yarnell:
Start/Finish Line Lot - Yarnell Assembly of God - 17125 W. Fountain Hill Lane, Yarnell (map)
Please enter via Lakewood Dr. and Exit via Fountain Hill Lane to keep traffic moving
Shuttle Parking #1: American Legion Post 79 - 22911 Looka Way (map)
Shuttle Parking #2: Yarnell Community Presbyterian Church - 16455 Tabletop Way (map)
Shuttle Parking #3: U-Stowe-It - 21972 AZ-89 (map)
There will be two 40-Passenger Shuttles, Operating from 6am - 7:30am and from 8:30am until needed
We run rain or shine. There are no refunds due to weather.

Water Stations
Water and Gatorade will be made available along the course at multiple water stations. Water Stations will be stationed at:
- 19K (11.8 Miles) - Miles 1.2, 2.15, 2.68, 3.9, 5.1, 5.9, 6.8, 7.9, 9.8, 10.8, and 11.4
- 10K (6.22 Miles) - Miles 1.2, 2.15, 2.68, 3.9, and 5.1
- 5K (3.1 Miles) - Miles 1.2, 2.15, and 2.68
