My Story…
On May 22, 2020 Melina Edenfield was diagnosed with an aggressive pediatric brain tumor called Diffuse Midline Glioma (DMG). Melina lost her fight to this tumor on June 24 of the same year, but it was just the beginning of her family’s fight to cure this disease... all while dressed in all things cheetah print, or “cheeto” as Melina called it!
This is dear to my heart as Melina & my daughter, Amelia, quickly became best pals when they met in preschool. Amelia continues to talk about her friend to this day.
Michelle & Keith, Melina’s parents, decided to create awareness for pediatric brain tumors while continuing to CHOOSE JOY because that is how Melina lived!
The Edenfields’ strength is contagious & because of this, I wanted to take a personal challenge, in running this marathon, & turn it into something so much more meaningful. I want to raise donations and awareness, while spreading Melina’s story & joy during my time training!
