Join us on April 18th as we remember the tragic events that took place in April 2020 in our quiet rural Nova Scotian communities.
Walk or Run a 5k/10k/Half/Full Marathon in memory of those lives lost on April 18/19 2020. Races will be held in and around Truro and Colchester on April 18th 2021 or Virtually from your own course.
In-Person Races - SOLD OUT
Marathon Start - Portapique Community Hall, Portapique 7 am - Ending at Victoria Park. Bus pick up at RECC 6 AM SHARP
Walk ups must meet with Volunteer upon arrival.
Half-Marathon Start - Chiganois Elementary School, Masstown 7am - Ending at Victoria Park. Bus pick up at RECC 6AM - 630 AM.
Walk ups drop off at left driveway and must meet with Volunteer upon arrival.
There is now only one group of runners in the half marathon. To help with maintaining social distance (NEW): Runners will line up on the spacing ropes and then will be released from the start line in small groups - please follow the instructions of volunteers at the start line for your cue to begin the race.
Buses will have a maximum capacity of 36 passengers due to Covid restrictions - do not wait for the last bus to get out to the start line.
NEW RACE ROUTE and TIMES for 5k and 10k
DUE TO COVID RESTRICTIONS CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE TO THE LOCATION, ROUTES, AND TIMES FOR THE 5K AND 10K
THE 5K AND 10K WILL NOW TAKE PLACE ON THE COBEQUID TRAIL.
BUSSING WILL BE PROVIDED TO THE START LINE - NO PARKING AT EITHER START LINE OR THE NEW FINISH LINE AREA AT 189 WILLOW STREET.
5K Start - Point to point from the 5K start line near the Water Treatment Plant Road off of Hwy 236 to the Trail Head near 189 Willow Street Truro ENTRY POINT IS NEXT TO WATER SPRING ACROSS FROM 3642 HWY 236.
Race 1: Start time 10 AM - Bib Numbers 001-125. Bus Pick Up Times 9 AM - 930 AM at the RECC
Race 2: Start time 11:15 AM - Bib Numbers 126-250. Bus Pick Up Times 10:15 AM -10:45 AM at the RECC
Bib Assignments will be provided shortly - THERE WILL BE NO FURTHER CHANGES TO BIB ASSIGNMENTS

Race Starts at 8:30 AM. Bus Pick Up Times 7:30 AM - 8 AM

Proceeds will support the Nova Scotia Remembers Legacy Society's Memorial Building Fund that will establish a permanent memorial in memory of those 23 lives that were so unfairly taken from their families and our communities.

Housekeeping does not enter occupied rooms so should you require additional amenities, linens, garbage bags etc. we just ask that you call the front desk and we will deliver. Each room has a mini fridge, microwave and Keurig coffee maker. Our restaurant & lounge Bistro on Prince is open daily from 4-9pm and can provide room service. Your rate includes complimentary wifi and parking as well.

Nova Scotia Remembers Memorial 5K Walk/Run Closed
Our 5k event will feature start at the 5k point on the Cobequud Trail and finish in at the trail's Willow Street trail head through a scenic crushed gravel trail along the dykes and into town. Morning start time 10 am / 11:15 am - waves will be assigned by bib number and you will be notified of your assignment ahead of the race. This change has been made as a result of updated provincial Covid regulations for Races. Participants with bib numbers 001-125 will start at 10:00 AM. Buses will leave the RECC for this wave at between 9 am and 9:30 AM Participants with bib numbers 126-250 will start at 11:15 AM. Buses will leave the RECC for this wave between 10:15 and 10:45 AM Access to the 5k Start Line is only by drop off/foot or by bus from the RECC at 625 Abenaki Drive. Nova Scotia Remembers Memorial 10K Closed
The 10k event will start at the Cobequid Trail head at Shore Road in Old Barnes and finish at the trail's Willow Street trail head near 189 Willow Street in Truro. This is a crushed gravel trail that follows the Cobequid Bay along the dykes and into Truro. The route and time have been changed to ensure our race is in line with updated provincial Covid guidelines for races. Access to the 10k Start Line is only by drop off/foot or by bus from the RECC at 625 Abenaki Drive. THERE IS NO PARKING AT THE SHORE ROAD START LINE OR AT THE WILLOW STREET TRAIL HEAD FINISH LINE. ALL 10k participants will start at 8:30 AM. Buses will leave the RECC for this race between 730 and 800 AM.

Nova Scotia Remembers Memorial Half-Marathon Closed
The Nova Scotia Remembers Memorial Half-Marathon will start at 7:00 am follow Highway 2 from Masstown to Bible Hill into Truro with the finish line at Victoria Park. There will be water stations along the way and nutrition will be provided at the end of the race. Please ensure that you can finish this distance in roughly 5 hours or less before signing up. If needed you can grab a bus that will pick up runners at RECC in Truro and transport them to the start line in Masstown. ALL Participants will start at 7:00 AM. Buses for this wave will leave the RECC between 6 AM and 630 AM. Access to the Half Marathon Start Line is only by foot, drop-off, or by bus from the RECC at 625 Abenaki Road, Truro. THERE IS NO PARKING AT CHIGANOIS ELEMENTARY OR AT VICTORIA PARK NOTE: There is a small possibility that a train will interrupt the race, particularly in the very late morning. Unfortunately we are unable to control this factor but want to ensure awareness.

Nova Scotia Remembers Memorial Marathon Closed
The Nova Scotia Remembers Anniversary Marathon will start at 7 am in Portapique and follow Highway #2 through rural West Colchester to Bible Hill and through to Truro to the Victoria Park finish line. Access to the Marathon Start Line is only by foot, drop-off, or by bus from the RECC at 625 Abenaki Road, Truro. You must travel on the designated Marathon bus to the start line and from Victoria Park. Please ensure you arrive at the RECC by 6 AM to allow for transport and staging. The Marathon will have one start time, 7 AM. Buses will leave the RECC in Truro at 6 am SHARP! Masks must be worn at all times prior to the start and as you cross the finish line. NOTE: There is a small possibility that a train will interrupt the race, particularly in the very late morning. Unfortunately we are unable to control this factor but want to ensure awareness.
