My Story…
Easy to make a DONATION...an opportunity to thank the CAF members for their service! Tax receipt for donation of $10 and up.
For the month of February (1st to 28th), I am participating in the inaugural Nation Wide Virtual PSP WINTER Physical Activity CHALLENGE as well as fundraising for SOLDIER ON, a Canadian Armed Forces program.
What is Soldier On?
Soldier On is a program of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) which contributes to the recovery of ill and injured CAF members and veterans by providing opportunities and resources through sport, recreational, and creative activities. Soldier On is recognized for improving the quality of life of the ill and injured and is a highly visible and integral component of the Department of National Defence, and the CAF’s commitment to the care of ill and injured members. Generous Canadians support the program through donations and fundraising to the Soldier On Fund, which is managed by Support Our Troops and Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services.
What Does Soldier On Do?
Since 2007, Soldier On has supported close to 7,000 ill and injured members using sport and physical recreational activities to enable social support, build confidence in their abilities and realize their full potential. Soldier On provides members with a safe environment to challenge themselves and become inspired in ways that they may not have thought possible, contributing to and providing a gateway to enhance ones’ well-being. This re-introduction to an active lifestyle provides opportunities to develop new skills, build confidence and meet peers with similar challenges.
Does it make a difference?
Many ill/injured members credit Soldier On with helping in their recovery, overcoming their challenges, opening doors to other life opportunities, and assisting in their transition
Description
This year, PSP presents the first inaugural Winter Physical Activity Challenge. We would like to invite the CAF community to come together to get outside (or stay inside) and be active with their loved ones. By doing this virtually, we are able to be active together at home while supporting the ill/ injured CAF community as they, despite adversity, adapt, overcome, and Soldier On.
Soldier On is the most direct way for Canadians to contribute to supporting the recovery, rehabilitation, and reintegration of members with a physical and/or mental illness or injury through the transformative power of sport, recreation and creative activity.
You will assist:
- Soldier On members, who are dealing with life-altering illness and injury, in attending sport, recreation and creative activity camps to help them find new ways that they can be active in their daily lives while building a community of understanding and comradery.
- In providing equipment grants for participants to purchase a piece of equipment that will help them engage in and maintain a healthy, active lifestyle.
Last year, with help like yours, 1027 members have joined the Soldier On family and are adapting, overcoming, and Soldiering On.
