Help Me Raise Funds for Freedom
I hope you will join me in raising funds for the Aruna Project as they free, empower, and employ women caught in the sex trafficking industry in India. Together, we can make a difference.
When I was in college, I started to hear more about human trafficking and it would make me sick. But if I’m being honest, I soon forgot about it because I it didn’t directly impact me and it wasn’t going on in my own life.
Fast forward a few years and the opportunity came to run in the first Dalton Aruna Run (also my first 5k). I was intrigued because the funds helped free women in sex trafficking but I also knew of the founders since they are originally from Dalton.
I ran for a girl named Nara. In fact, her name was written on a piece of tape across my chest. I wept the entire race at the thought of her starting “her job” for the evening. She has a name, I knew it, and it finally became personal to me.
The next year I became the race director and I’ve been fighting for these precious women ever since. We have the opportunity to be a voice for the voiceless…to give hope to the hopeless…to be a light in the darkness.
