Animal Run
A community of athletes creating a better, loving and more sustainable world through outdoor exercise, animal kindness and environmental awareness
Welcome to our 4th Annual and 2nd Virtual Animal Run/Walk and Canicross (canine cross-country).
Our Mission: Animal Run's vegan foot races raise funds for various animal welfare organizations, helping them save the lives of, find homes for, heal and comfort animal residents in need. Animal Run encourages athletes to support vegan businesses that promote human health and a thriving world.
A virtual run means you can run or walk your registered distance anytime, anywhere you are happiest. You also have the choice of completing your distance all-at-once or in several segments. Please practice social distancing and wearing a face mask in consideration for each other. Wear one earbud to ensure you hear oncoming traffic. Wear reflective gear if you are outside at night.
This year's beneficiary is Esther The Wonder Pig's Happily Ever Esther's Farm Sanctuary. If you haven't heard of Esther The Wonder Pig, check out her TED story here.
Fundraising Goal - $2,500 is needed to fireproof one piglet barn. Fireproofing at animal sanctuaries is always on top of their minds. Turn up the volume to hear about our project. To achieve this fundraising goal, we need approximately 100 runners across all distances. The higher the mileage you run, the cooler the swag, you become a bigger badass WHILE you are saving lives. Direct donations to Friends of Happily Ever Esther Farm Sanctuary, during registration, will count toward the fundraising goal. Please tell your friends!!!
Time Frame The event ends 4/22/2021 (Earth Day). You can utilize the remaining days to complete a longer distance over several comfortable segments.

NOTE FOR CANICROSS TEAMS
You know your dog best and we trust that you are using a canicross harness to enhance your doggies' enjoyment of the sport. For the Marathon, 50k and 50 mile runs, we encourage you to complete your distance over several days with appropriate recovery time for their bones, joints and paws. Please expect to receive an email from us with further details on canicross safety. If you have any questions about canicross, please reach out to Victor Ballesteros, CEO of Victory Sportdesign and canicross expert at victorysportdesign@gmail.com.
Accountability Requirement for Marathon, 50k and 50 mile distances. Part of the sublime and painful experience of running long distance is knowing that you completed it. For these three distances, the way for us to be there "with you" on your incredible journey is to see the photos of your watch or phone app with date and distance. We will spreadsheet your progress. Please send your accountability pictures through Facebook Messenger or Instagram Messenger OR email them to theanimalrun@gmail.com. You can send them all at once or as you finish your segments.
Thank you so much for your love and support of all animals and the Animal Run. Please join the Facebook group here and don't forget to post your amazing pictures on social media with #AnimalRun.
