My Story…

Qapla', warriors!

Join us is supporting the Victory March: part of the legacy of the Nijmegan March, which honours the historic ties between Canada and the Netherlands. As Klingon warriors, we honour those who devote themselves to noble causes, such as ending the Nazi occupation of Holland.

We also honour Corporal Andrew “Boomer” Eykelenboom, a Canadian Armed Forces medic who was killed by an IED in Afghanistan in 2006. Boomer was a man of honour, who devoted his life to helping others. Funds raised during this campaign will support his Legacy fund, which is focused on continuing his humanitarian efforts by building schools, hospitals, to providing opportunities for women and veterans, and improving health care or education conditions.

Together, we shall succeed in making the world a better place.

Description

Chief Military Personnel and Boomer’s Legacy have collaborated to launch the first inaugural Victory March. This May, Canadians have the opportunity to lace up next to the women and men that serve our country to remember liberation of the Netherlands at the end of the Second World War. Over 7,600 Canadians died in the campaign to liberate the Netherlands, a sacrifice that has never been forgotten by the Dutch people. This march will celebrate teamwork and friendship, as well as the special bond between the Netherlands and Canada resulting from the brave and tireless actions of the Canadians and Allied Forces while supporting the kind acts of Canadian Armed Forces today through Boomer’s Legacy.

Boomer’s Legacy was founded in memory of Corporal Andrew “Boomer” Eykelenboom.  The goal of Boomer’s Legacy is to empower all deployed Canadian Armed Forces members to work together to provide humanitarian assistance in the areas they serve.

The funds you raise will assist members of the Canadian Armed Forces soldiers, sailors, aviators and airwomen in funding humanitarian initiatives at home and abroad. Projects vary from helping a family, a school, a hospital or an area, to providing opportunities for women and improving health care or education conditions.
