RUN FOR WATER & ENVISION FINANCIAL PRESENT
THE UPSTREAM CHALLENGE
MAY 01 - 31, 2021
An innovative month-long run, play, and bike challenges unlocking lifelong access to clean water for the community members of Hawo in rural Ethiopia.
The upstream challenge has two streams: competitive (timed using Strava) and non-competitive (timing is optional and based in an honour system). Your one-time registration to one of these streams will unlock a set of challenges which you can do as many times as you like during the month of May.
Each time you complete a challenge, you unlock $35 from our sponsors to empower one person in Hawo with access to clean water for life.
This May, get active outside, enjoy our beautiful local parks and trails, and partner with the people of Hawo so they can realize their dream of bringing clean water into their community. More information at the bottom of page.
This stream unlocks running (flat + trail with some elevation) and gravel riding challenges. These will be timed using Strava.
CA$35.00Mar 22 - May 31
NON-COMPETITIVE (individual) Closed
This route is family-friendly and includes multiple challenges such as Mill Lake 5k walk/run, Abby Grind climb and Vancouver Sea Wall walk/run/bike. Timing for these is based in an honour system.
CA$35.00Mar 22 - May 31
NON-COMPETITIVE (family) Closed
Same as the non-competitive (individual), except you will only be paying $50 for registering your entire family (3 or more people).
CA$50.00Mar 22 - May 31
Your registration to this event requires you to respect all federal, provincial and municipal COVID-19 restrictions including but not limited to social distancing guidelines and quarantine rules if you are experiencing any symptoms related to COVID-19 and/or have travelled outside of Canada within the 14 day period before your participation in this event.
COMPETITIVE VS NON-COMPETITIVE
This two streams have a slightly different set of challenges (see challenges below). The key difference is competitive challenges will be timed using Strava and synced to leaderboard showing how many times you completed the challenge. Every time you log your time on Strava, you unlock $35 from our sponsors for clean water.
For the non-competitive challenges, posting your time is optional and is based in an honour system. The non-competitive timing is posted using your registration on this platform - we will send you easy step-by-step guide on how to do this! You can also post a photo of you and/or your family completing your challenge; for every #EnvisionUpstream photo you post, our sponsors will donate $35.
NON-COMPETITIVE INDIVIDUAL VS FAMILY
There is no difference in the challenges between these two. The only difference is pricing. If there are 3 or more people in your family, we would like to extend you the option of paying $50 for everyone instead of $35 for each person. This is to encourage as many families as possible to take part and enjoy being active outside while giving back.
