Welcome to the Kelowna Running Club
100km Virtual Challenge!
March 1st 2021- March 31st
We have all been missing our running events over the past year, so during the month of March, the KRC will be hosting this online virtual challenge. This is an opportunity for us to push ourselves a little harder and to reconnect with everyone that we haven’t seen in a long time. The KRC virtual challenge is a distance challenge that has the goal of at least 100 total kilometres in the month of March. There is no set location for this run and you can complete it in as many separate activities as you like (or all in one go if you want!). This event is available free to all registered members who have signed up by Feb 28th.
After each of your runs this month, enter your results by logging into RaceRoster.com or by using your name and registration number. Select the event and enter your time. For proof of completion, we ask that you upload a file/photo showing date and distance when you enter your result for each run. A distance tracking app, such as Strava, Garmin or Runkeeper, can provide the necessary data to submit, but is not necessary. If you need assistance, please contact Joshua Wyatt, the race director, at joshwyatt000@hotmail.com
In addition to the challenge, every participant will receive a custom buff with the Kelowna Running Club logo and everyone who completes the 100km distance will be eligible for prizes! The prize draw will take place in April, after the results have been confirmed. In addition to the draw prizes, we have arranged several special awards with our sponsors, which have been inspired by the various runs and races that the KRC provides:
Goat's Award for the most number of overall runs.
Creeker's Award for the most distance run on the Greenway.
Next Step Award for best running picture posted to the Next Step Facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/370822966728495)
Thursday Social Award for the most distance run on Thursdays.
During this event we encourage all participants to post pictures of themselves or their runs on the Next Step Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/370822966728495). We have not seen your lovely face for quite a while and this event is all about reconnecting with the people that make this running community so great!
If you are injured or not in a position to run right now, you may also enter. There is no minimum speed at which you must complete your kilometres, and if you are a walker, you are just as welcome to join us! To be eligible for prizes you must complete the 100km, but the free buff and participation in the event are not reliant on distance completion. We would encourage you to join, even if you think the distance is beyond you. This event is about connecting with everyone, and who knows, you may surprise yourself!
Finally, we would like to thank our wonderful sponsors who have been incredibly generous with their offerings for this event. Many of them are small local businesses that already have a strong connection with the club and we would encourage you to go out and support them!
