My Story…
This year will be the 7th time I have started a fundraiser for the Sua Sponte Foundation (SSF) 501c3, Non-Profit Organization. If I am going to ask friends, family, and others to donate to the SSF, I always tested myself physically, mentally, and spiritually by training for and completing Ultramarathons. This time, it is also a demanding and taxing challenge...
The great and legendary, Charlie Brown and I hatched the concept of this event fundraiser (and encouraging other participants to create teams and raise money also) and plan on making it an annual fundraising event for the SSF.
Concept: Teams of 2 or more people strive to complete 1,000 miles (run, bike, walk, row, etc) in the month of March to honor the heroism, intestinal fortitude, and perseverance of Merrill's Marauders in WWII (China-Burma-India Theater of War) who navigated 1,000 miles of the most rugged mountainous terrain and jungles on planet earth to defeat the enemy.
My share of the task is 500 miles. I am honored to be teamed up with Charlie, a fellow 2nd Platoon A Co, 1-75 Ranger alum...a mere 14 years apart.
I know the incredible impact the SSF has made over its almost first decade of service. I am one of the co-founders of the Sua Sponte Foundation and have been a volunteer board member since our inception in 2011. I can tell you first hand what a great group of patriotic volunteer board members the foundation has who quietly and rapidly, when called to, provides incredible and crucial support for the elite Special Operations Warriors and families of 1st Ranger Battalion. But none of that assistance can be provided without donations from Patriots like you.
Please consider submitting any size donation today to support our fundraiser.
Thank you in advance!
