Dr. Teshamae Monteith: The Management of Headache Disorders During the COVID 19 Pandemic - What Have We Learned
Dr. Monteith is an Associate Professor of Clinical Neurology. She is Chief of the Division of Headache in the Department of Neurology. She also has clinics at the Advanced Institute for Pain Management. Dr. Monteith’s research focus is on migraine and chronic disease states including chronic migraine and concussion. Her research focuses on neurometabolite distributions of chronic migraine and associations with indicators of clinical severity, including psychosocial impact.
She was awarded a National Institutes of Health (NINDS) supplement award to promote diversity in health-related research to study migraine and vascular risk factors, and complications such as silent brain infarcts, white matter lesions, and stroke. She is also the site PI for clinical trial aimed to investigate the use of CGRP antibodies for the treatment of both episodic and chronic cluster headache. She is a member of the American Headache Society Association, the American Academy of Neurology, and the International Headache Society. She is a board member of the Florida Society of Neurology.
Dr. Valerie Jackson: Value Based Living
Dr. Jackson is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the UCSF Pain Management Center. Dr. Jackson specializes in helping individuals manage their pain and live a fuller life. She completed her fellowship in Pain Management at Stanford University and her PhD in Clinical Psychology at Alliant International University. Dr. Jackson also earned a Master's in Public Health from Columbia University, a Bachelor's degree from Stanford University, and is board certified in Biofeedback. She has expertise in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and mindfulness interventions.
Dr. Nina Riggins: Headache & Women's Health
Dr. Riggins is Associate Clinical Professor in the Headache Division of the Department of Neurology at the University of California San Francisco, where she participates in outpatient and inpatient headache management. She is a board-certified neurologist with fellowships in Neurophysiology and Headache. She is part of “Headache on the Hill” and “Neurology on the Hill” patient Advocacy.
Dr. Riggins is an Educator and spends much of her time teaching medical students, residents and fellows. She has several clinical research projects ongoing in the area of Headache medicine. From her clinical research, Dr. Riggins presented findings at national meetings of both the American Academy of Neurology and the American Headache Society.
Annika Ehrlich: Headache Tool Box
Annika, a Nurse Practitioner, provides care for patients at the UCSF Headache Center. She is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner and is certified by the American Academy of Neuroscience Nursing. With a focus on self-advocacy, she treats each patient in the context of their environment, individual background and circumstances. She provides holistic care via western medicine and helps patients connect with resources to help with headaches, such as the Yoga for Headaches workshop at the Iyengar Yoga Institute in San Francisco, pain psychology methods, acupuncture, neutraceuticals, aromatherapy and physical therapy. She is a yoga practitioner and believes that yoga and meditation can be modified to the needs of the patient and beneficial for everyone.
