Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is a Virtual Race?
A virtual 5K is a community event that allows you to run or walk at any location, at your pace, outside or on a treadmill, alone or with a group of family & friends. Keep track of your time and log your results on the Race Roster on the registration website. Instead of meeting up in a large group at the start line, you are able to pick your own course, be it in your neighborhood or along one of Charlotte’s greenways. While the official race date of our run is Saturday, April 17, you can run the distance of a 5K any time that is most convenient to you. Once you have completed the distance and mark the time it took you to finish, you may log back into the Race Roster registration website (during the week leading up to April 17) and update your result. You are encouraged to run with your family while wearing the official race t-shirt to signify to everyone that you are completing the Virtual Charger Spirit Run 5K!
Virtual races have been around for years, but increased in popularity since COVID-19 forced everyone to find new ways of connecting. Even though we can't run in large groups, we can stay connected when we all run at the same time, just from different locations. It's a great way for families to get out and stay active together! Connect with your friends via social media by sending us a picture of you in your Charger Spirit Run shirt and then head over to the Results page to see who was the fastest runner!
The best thing about Virtual Races is that ANYONE can participate. Do you have friends or family that live out of town? Invite them to register and have fun running at the same time - a little friendly competition pushes us all to give our best.
2) How do I enter my Results?
You'll either need your RaceRoster.com sign in information (provided upon registration) or your race confirmation number. Click the Submit Your Time button and enter the time it took for you to run your 5K. Optionally, upload a picture of your time (screenshot of timing device) for added verification.
3) Can I run with a Team?
Yes! Create a team when you register, and then ask your friends to join it. You do NOT have to run together to be on the same team. Each team member will submit their time individually and be recognized as part of the team on the Race Roster results page.
4) Who should be on my Team?
ANYONE! You can create a team for your family, friends in your class, friends from your sports team(s), or a group of great friends. If you want someone to join your Team, just let them know what your Team name is and they can join when they register. Group size is limited between 2-8 individuals.
5) Does my whole family have to be on the same Team?
No, you can all be on different teams or no team at all.
6) Who is the Team Captain and what are his/her responsibilities?
The Team Captain is simply the very first person that creates the team by giving it a name. There are no other responsibilities and no further actions are necessary.
7) How will my Team be tracked?
The team run time will be averaged based on the number of team members and their total combined run times. The team with the fastest average pace will be ranked #1!
8) I forgot to join a Team when I registered. Can I join one now?
Yes! Email pds.chargerspiritrun@
9) Where should I run?
You can run anywhere you like! Use a tracking app or mapmyrun.com to find a good route near you. There are NO road closures for this race and NO supported routes. Please run safely and abide by all pedestrian laws.
10) How do I get my t-shirt and other merchandise that I’ve ordered?
Packet pick up will be held the week leading up to the official race day, Saturday April 17. We are currently planning packet pickups on the Upper Parking Deck in front of the DeMayo Gateway Thursday and Friday of that week. Look for more details as we get closer to April 17.
11) How do you know I didn't cheat?
We don't.......but YOU know!
12) How do I submit my pictures and videos that I want published on the PA’s social media accounts or the registration website?
Simple, email your pics or videos to pds.chargerspiritrun@providenceday.org or post to Charger Chat and we will post them to the registration website and the Parents’ Association social media pages.
