Parthenia L. Coffey-Rice- 2021 UCCAM RACE AMBASSADOR
I am Parthenia L. Coffey-Rice. 63 years young. Born, raised and educated here in Union County. Attended Western Union Elementary School through eighth grade, Parkwood High School "Class of 76" where I was cheerleader and ran track. I attended North Carolina Central University in Durham NC receiving a Bachelor Degree in Physical Education. I enjoyed playing softball in a community league as well as dance with the late Chuck Davis African American Dance Ensemble. My passion for running started in 2019 when I ran my second 5k at the 8th Annual Union County Crisis Ministry Run. Running gives me the opportunity to work on my breathing, enjoy nature, relieve stress, clear my head and work on endurance. I chose to support UCCAM because helping families in need is so important to the community. Therefore, I am happy to be a part and willing to help raise funds to contribute to Union County Crisis Assistance Ministry for families who need the assistance.
Alexandra- 2021 UCCAM RACE AMBASSADOR
Hello, my name is Alexandra! I am excited and honored to be a Race Ambassador for this year’s 10th Annual Virtual Crisis Run. I like all kinds of endurance sports, but I especially like triathlon. In January 2020, I ran the Houston marathon and in December 2020 completed a six-hour run-bike-run to support UCCAM and raise funds for rent/utility assistance. As a Race Ambassador, it is my desire to continue to support the important work of UCCAM in Union County and raise awareness about the role it plays in preventing hunger and homelessness in our community. This year in particular has been difficult for individuals and families as they experienced job loss due to the pandemic. I encourage you to join us as we seek to meet the financial and physical needs of the community and bring hope in time of crisis.
