UChicago Alumni - let’s get moving this spring! We welcome you to lace up your shoes and complete your own 3.1-mile run as proud UChicago Alumni wherever and whenever you'd like.

Your $35.00 all-in registration includes never-before-seen UChicago branded swag, AND a donation to support UChicago OdysseyScholarship Fund.

• The first 100 reunion participants who register will receive an additional gift in honor of their milestone: UChicago Traditions socks.
• The first 150 repeat runners who register will receive a commemorative button.
• Win prizes for the following categories
  • Top male, female and non-binary time
  • Furthest Runner from Chicago, IL
  • Top recruiter
  • Spirit award for every alumni who share a selfie/photo with us on social media

Dates and Times
The deadline to register is Friday, April 30. You can complete the 5k anytime between Saturday, May 1 at 12:00 a.m. CT and Monday, May 31, 2021, at 11:59 p.m. CT.

Location
You pick - anywhere on Earth! Enjoy 3.1 miles in the inside or outside location of your choice.

Cost
$35.00/person domestics and $55.00/person international. With your registration, you will receive a UChicago branded face mask, buff (i.e. a multifunctional headband), race bib, finisher certificate, and custom 5k finisher medal.

Your face mask, buff, bib, certificate, and medal will ship to the address you registered with the week of May 1. You will receive an email notification to the email you registered with USPS tracking information once it has shipped. Due to recent events, items in your order may experience delays in delivery beyond our standard shipping times.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Join UChicago Alumni and friends all over the world for a Virtual 5k Walk/Run! To join, all you have to do is:

Step 1: Register for the 5k here.

Step 2: Refer your friends!

Step 3: Choose your route - you may already have a favorite place to walk or run, but here are a few pointers and tips just in case:

• Run-on a treadmill
• Use this Historic Running Route; this was developed in partnership between Chicago Studies and the University of Chicago Athletics
• Look for an established route - public parks or bike paths often have routes with pre-marked distances.
• Run around an athletic track - 12.5 laps on a 400m track are the equivalent of a 5k.
• Use a route mapping website - A few options are Map My Run, Strava, USATF - America's Running Routes, or WalkJogRun
• Open our Spotify UChicago Alumni 5k" playlist curated by ultra-marathon runner Greg Nance, AB'11
• Get social by joining the UChicago Strava Group or adding a hashtag #uchicago, #uchicagoalumni, or #chicagobooth to your Peloton profile.

Step 4: Sport some UChicago apparel, or simply wear maroon while completing your 5k. Be sure to keep track of how long it takes you to complete your run or walk if you plan to post your time to raceroster.com.

Step 5: Post your results to Raceroster.com by Monday, May 31 at 11:59 p.m. CT and share your favorite moments on social hashtags #UChicago. Remember to make your post public and tag @UChicagoAlumniChicago so we can see it!
