Join us across the nation for the 2nd annual National Veterans Memorial and Museum Virtual Run, Walk, Ruck and Roll to honor and remember those men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice. This is a virtual-only event.
Honor Them Together. The National Veterans Memorial and Museum’s virtual 1 mile, 5k, and 10k run, walk, ruck and roll is a family event to honor America’s lost heroes, all servicemen and servicewomen, who died defending our country's safety and freedom. The event features options to run, walk, ruck or roll 1 mile or 5k in honor of a lost loved one in your own life or 10K (6.2 miles) to honor those lost from all 6 branches of service.
I Will Always Remember. In honor of those lost, we encourage you to complete your run, walk or ruck during Memorial Day Week and the week after May 23 - June 6, 2021.
We invite everyone nationwide to take part in this 2021 Memorial Day commemoration by sharing who you will never forget. Whether you’re honoring one lost loved one or honoring all the brave service members who died serving our country, we encourage you to use #WeHonorThemTogether and @nationalvmm to share photos, your location, and stories of your participation as well as those being remembered. The National Veterans Memorial and Museum team will not only be monitoring and highlighting the participation across the nation but also the names, ranks, and branches of service of those being honored by their friends and family during this time.
A portion of each entry fee and event proceeds benefit the National Veterans Memorial and Museum. Additional ways to get involved include:
- Become a Proud member
- Skip the run, donate directly to the National Veterans Memorial and Museum
- Give an additional gift
Note: this is a virtual race. Register by May 15 to get your packet on or before May 23 (maybe subject to postal delivery delays). We want you to proudly wear your shirt during your run, walk, ruck and roll. Encourage your friends and family to participate too, and be sure to tag @nationalvmm and use #WeHonorThemTogether in your post-race photos on Instagram and social media.

About the National Veterans Memorial and Museum
More Than A Museum. A living tribute to over 40 million Americans who have served this nation since its founding.
It is time for America to remember and to honor its veterans, regardless of branch of service or era of conflict or peace. It is time to give a voice to every man and woman who has served, every mother and father who has lost a son or daughter, and every child who has lost a parent. It is time for the National Veterans Memorial and Museum (NVMM). There isn’t a single, dedicated museum to the veteran’s experience.
America has a long, proud history of military service and volunteerism during wartime. Heroes such as General George Washington and Senator John H. Glenn are well documented on the national stage. But there are others – nearly countless in number – whose military experiences are known only to family, friends and descendants. NVMM will preserve and share these stories so that their sacrifices for freedom are remembered.
NVMM is the only place where the stories of our veterans, their families and the Fallen – across all branches of service and all eras of conflict – will be told together. NVMM bridges historical events to current concerns to strengthen understanding and respect between veterans and civilians. This cultural institution stands as a place of inspiration for all visitors to come together as one people with a common bond and a shared pride in our veterans.
NVMM is neither a war memorial nor a military museum. NVMM takes visitors on a narrative journey telling individual stories and shared experiences of veterans throughout history. Paying tribute to the sacrifices of servicemen and women and their families. History is presented in a dynamic, participatory experience with photos, letters and personal effects, multi-media presentations, and interactive exhibits. Together, these elements link our national story to the larger context of world events since our country’s earliest days and demonstrate the importance of individuals in shaping our history.
