My Story…
Dear Friends and Family,
As you probably know by now, I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in late March. Since then I have spoken with so many amazing woman and organizations and one of them is the Colorado Ovarian Cancer Alliance (COCA) which a non-profit that depends on charity events such as this one.
So I've decided to start my own team for this race, "Sarah's Team F Cancer", to help raise awareness of ovarian cancer and help fund this beyond supportive and helpful organization.
To support me and COCA you could join me on June 12th at 9 am. at City Park (will be so inspirational and fun!), donate if you can't make it, or become a team member (no cost) and just help fundraise through your own neighbors, co-workers, friends and families (for this option, go to “join my team“ on this page and then select “fundraiser only”, it’s free).
If you're not a runner, don't worry, you can walk it as well (I'm walking), it’s a 5K. If you want you can join my sisters and me when we do some prancing at the start and the finish and whenever the mood strikes!! 😜🤣. (Check it out! - https://youtu.be/o-50GjySwew).
Registering is easy and/or donating takes just 5 minutes or less; if donating you can include your name if you wish or not and you there is an option to say "undisclosed amount" as well.
I was inspired and amazed to hear that donations from this race funds/allows COCA to continue supporting women like me in the community through many support groups, educational programs and helps low-income woman who can't afford crucial things. COCA IS AMAZING and they need critical funds to support those of us with ovarian cancer!!
And, to make it party-like and fun I think it would be awesome to wear a costume, wig, anything you want to spice things up and then of course I'll have my portable speaker with tunes, that's how I roll... ;) and we'll be prancin' away :)
This is one of the many "silver linings" to my diagnosis in helping others, educating about ovarian cancer including getting the word out about the crucial early warning signs (which can save lives !) and inspiring others.
Your support in this means SO much to me - each team member participating and each donation is a positive lightning bolt to my heart, full of amazingly good vibes, a feeling of solidarity and hope. Thank you so much, Xo
Carpe diem! Sarah
