In the spring of 2011, my daughter Kelsey Hill who was 12 years old, was receiving treatment for a rare and aggressive brain tumour. Kelsey had endured 3 brain surgeries (which made her wheelchair dependent); 31 radiation treatments to her brain and spine; intense chemotherapy treatments; countless MRI's, ultrasounds, blood transfusions and needlepokes to her body.
Even though Kelsey had every right to feel sorry for herself and complain, she didn't. She saw a flyer for the Footsteps For Families Fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House Charities South Central Ontario and said to me "I want to make a Team". I asked her why and she said matter-of-fact "to help other children with cancer". How could I say no to that?
TEAM KELSEY was formed with her logo and the brightest lime green (her favourite colour) shirts we could find. Footsteps for Families was held that year on my birthday June 12, 2011, and Team Kelsey raised $15,000!
Kelsey passed on December 13, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer but her kindness, bravery and brilliant legacy lives on through TEAM KELSEY and all of her supporters and those who love her.

Ronald McDonald House Charities South Central Ontario (RMHCSCO) serves as a regional resource for thousands of families whose children are being treated at local hospitals. Families typically come to us within 48 hours of their children's critical diagnosis, premature birth, or accident. These families' lives have been instantly turned upside down and our programs are committed to providing safe and comfortable accommodations, nutritious home-cooked meals, laundry services and specialized programming.
By making a donation today, you will be helping to ensure that these comforts of home are available to provide a sense of normalcy when their lives are anything but, and ensure that the only thing our families need to focus on is each other.
