Virtual Run Challenge FAQ's
WHAT IS A VIRTUAL RACE?
A virtual run event is similar to a traditional running event except the participant completes it entirely on their own. There is not a required location that the event must be completed nor a mandatory time. A virtual run event creates positive motivation by awarding the participant for their completed activity. Many virtual runs also are associated with giving back and creating awareness for a specific cause, charity, or organization.
WHO IS THE VIRTUAL RACE SUPPORTING?
This Virtual event will support two groups. Columbia Christian Schools and SnowCap Community Charities. Columbia has been blessed for many years to serve communities beyond the campus of the school. In an effort to raise important funds during Covid-19, the virtual run/walk event was created. The funds from this event will be used for technology upgrades, physically-distanced furniture, and increased sanitation for the school. In addition, half of all event proceeds will be donated to SnowCap Community Charities.
The mission of SnowCap Community Charities is to provide food, clothing, advocacy, and other services to the poor. The purpose of SnowCap is to discover the real needs in the area, communicate them, assist residents, churches, and community leaders to meet those needs individually and cooperatively. To find out more about SnowCap and ways to support their organization, visit snowcap.org.
HOW DOES A VIRTUAL RUN WORK?
Participants first choose a theme, popular distance, cause, or event organizer to choose their event just as they would choose a live running event. Once the participant chooses their virtual run event and registers the next step is to complete the distance and earn the finisher medal. The distance set by the event that they register for can be completed at any location the participant chooses. In most cases, the participant may also choose to run, walk, bike, indoors, or outside. The choice is completely up to the participant. Also, they are not required to complete the virtual race within any given time. The important thing is to at least finish the event. After the participant has completed the required distance they will then submit their time that it took to complete via their results page. Finally, once the results have been received the finisher medal will be sent directly to the participant.
IS THERE A MINIMUM AGE TO COMPLETE A VIRTUAL RACE?
We have no limitations on age. We actually encourage all ages to take on our challenges and complete them.
DO I HAVE TO COMPLETE THE ENTIRE VIRTUAL RACE DISTANCE ALL AT ONCE?
No, The Virtual Run Challenge is for everyone no matter what fitness level. Whether you are an avid runner or walker, you can split your race over a few days or weeks and they can be in any amount of distance as you feel comfortable with! Whichever way you complete the distance, a cool finisher medal is a great reward for your achievement!
HOW DO I SUBMIT MY RESULTS FOR THE VIRTUAL RACE?
Currently, The Virtual Run Challenge is based on the honor system for submitting your results. Once you complete the event your registered for, simply go to your results page choose the event within the dropdown, record your time, and then submit.
WHEN DO I RECEIVE MY FINISHER MEDAL?
Our challenges and races are meant to be earned so our policy is to send your finisher medal after you have completed your event and submitted your results.
DO I HAVE TO RUN THE VIRTUAL RACE?
Our challenges all have the same goal and the goal is to get you up and moving. Whether you choose to complete your challenge outdoors by walking or running or indoors by use of a treadmill or elliptical machine.
We also understand that many of our participants have different fitness levels. For those that need a little extra time, you can also break up your distance into manageable segments. Just make sure you add the full-time when submitting your final results.
I DO NOT LIVE WITHIN THE UNITED STATES, CAN I STILL REGISTER FOR AN EVENT?
Of course! We encourage everyone to register. The Virtual Run Challenge will have an option for our international participants to register.
HOW MUCH OF MY REGISTRATION IS DONATED TO CHARITY?
The Virtual Run Challenge was started in an effort to give our participants a way to give back as well as get healthy. Our commitment for donation is a minimum of 50% per registration to SnowCap Community Charities and 50% to Columbia Christian School. Also if an additional amount is donated the nonprofit organization will receive 100% of this additional donation.
DOES THE VIRTUAL RUN CHALLENGE OFFER REFUNDS?
We do understand that situations may come up where you may request a refund on your registration. Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds on registrations. You do have the option to transfer your registration to another one of our virtual events or also select to have the full amount donated to the benefiting charity.
