My Story…
Hello,
As you may know, May 3-7 is Mental Health Week in Canada.
This is a week that truly hits close to home for me. I have struggled with mental health issues for most of my life. I remember hyperventilating during a Ringette bronze medal game around the age of 10, because I couldn’t handle the pressure.
In my teenage years, I was medicated off and on for depression – and then diagnosed at the age of 27 with Generalized Anxiety Disorder… yes, it took that long.
In April of 2021, I was diagnosed with PTSD due to a trauma I experienced when I was 16. To say that I am familiar with the day to day grind of living with a mental illness, would be fair.
I am reaching out to you today to share that in honor of #MentalHealthWeek, I have joined Cameco Corporation's #StepUpforMentalHealth race.
I will be running a virtual 5k in October to raise money for mental health supports in Saskatchewan, where I was born and raised.
I would appreciate your support in any way you see fit!
If you, or someone you know is in crisis, please call the Canada Suicide Prevention Service (1-833-456-4566) or 911 for immediate help.
YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
Thank you <3
