That's a wrap!

What an incredible experience! RACE WITH ME! Virtual Challenge co-creators, Andre De Grasse and Jesse Briscoe congratulate everyone for racing over the past 8 weeks. We have enjoyed seeing your times and smiling faces each week and we are glad that you have had fun as you get back on track.

Thousands of Canadians from Halifax to Whitehorse participated, ranging in age from 2 to 82. The challenge raised $15,000 for youth mental health charities, such as the Kids Help Phone, through the Andre De Grasse Family Foundation.

All this came from the mind of co-creator Jesse Briscoe. Like so many of us during the COVID-19 pandemic, the 14-year-old from Montreal grew frustrated by the cancellation of his sport clubs and activities due to COVID restrictions. His dad Rob challenged Jesse and his brother Mackenzie to come up with a project – something they could dedicate themselves to and make the world a little better place.

The goal of the RACE WITH ME! Virtual Challenge was the act of completing the challenge itself. More than your time, your fundraising total or your ranking on the leaderboard, getting out there and doing your 400 metres is its own reward.

“That’s the ultimate outcome – that transformation of the physical to improve your mental health,” said Jesse's dad, Rob Briscoe. “You get a sense of accomplishment; you feel better that day and then that carries over for the rest of the week. It gives you something positive to think about and that has an impact on both your mental and physical health.”

#OlympicDay was a great success

The Andre De Grasse Family Foundation presented the #OlympicDay webcast on June 23rd to celebrate International Olympic Day. The webcast was viewed by 30,000 students from over 700 schools across Canada.
