My Story…
Quinn is really excited (and a little nervous) to be running 5k to raise funds for SickKids’ Rheumatology Department and to raise awareness of Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis. Quinn was diagnosed with JIA on her second birthday. Her disease presented with swelling in the knee and sudden inability to walk. It quickly advanced to multiple joint involvement (Polyarticular RF negative; ANA positive). Quinn’s hardest hit joints are in her neck and knees. Quinn’s tried different medications and the one that works best is the tumour necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitor - Enbrel. We give her an injection of this med every week at home and she is a ROCKSTAR.
There’s no cure for JIA…YET. With our help, and the resilience, determination and strength of our kids impacted by JIA, SickKids can lead the way and support other international organizations and groups to discover new treatments and eventually a cure.
