This is a great event in it's 11th year! It is a BOSTON QUALIFIER (not applicable for virtual event) with a beautiful route, excellent support and hospitality, prizes, and so much more! Our volunteers are amazing and work very hard to hold a memorable event for all participants.
The Team Relay is a highlight with many people participating on teams from their workplace, running groups, families, etc.
The event has been an annual fundraiser with all profits (after expenses) donated to the Yarmouth Hospital Renal Dialysis Unit to support patients and families in our communities undergoing kidney dialysis.
Sadly, for a second year, we are unable to hold the event in-person but we look forward to participants running or walking their version of "The Bean" to help raise funds for our local Kidney Dialysis unit at the Yarmouth Hospital in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.
Course Description (not applicable for Virtual event)
This route is by far the freshest, most scenic and beautiful route in Yarmouth County. The route is relatively flat with a few small hills and will be well marked. All runners will head out on the same route toward the Yarmouth Lighthouse along the picturesque Lighthouse Route. The route is along the back of Yarmouth harbour.
5K - turn at the designated mark on the Grove Rd
10k - turn around at the designated 5k mark just past the Overton ball field.
Half - will pass the Fishermen’s Monument and go through the small fishing village of John’s Cove, past John’s Cove beach to the turn-around at the lighthouse and will return along the same route to finish on a hill (Hibernia Street) leading to NSCC Burridge.
Full – follow the same route as the half and will turn around on Vancouver Street and run back to the lighthouse and return to town (2 loops). Once back on Vancouver Street runners will finish by going south on Main Street, turn left on to Herbert Street, up to Pleasant Street and turn left to finish at NSCC Burridge.
Relay - Run the full marathon route as a relay team.
Safety: Participants are invited to run and/or walk. No wheels allowed (i.e. strollers, bicycles, etc) and no dogs permitted on the course.
