The 12th annual Beca’s 5K walk/run is the main fundraising event for the non-profit organization Blackout Melanoma. Blackout Melanoma’s mission is to educate, support, and provide resources to help secure a generation free of Melanoma. Blackout Melanoma was launched during the painful and brave fight of Beca; a beautiful, brave, determined and loving young woman who wanted to bring hope for a generation free of melanoma. Although Beca lost her battle against this deadly disease, her name lives on…this is Beca’s 5K. We hope you join us in our efforts to BLACKOUT Melanoma one step at a time. Together we can educate, together we can support each other, and together we can provide hope for a world void of melanoma. Funds raised from this event go to directly to research, education and into the hands of those currently fighting melanoma. Our programs like our Beca’s Care grant program and our Beca’s Care Bag program are solely supported by individuals, businesses, event sponsors and our fundraising events like our 5K. This event is family friendly and all are welcome. You can run, walk, or stroll. The event will once again be held at the Tremayne Shelter at Creve Coeur Park. The 5K course takes you along a beautiful path around the lake. There will be food trucks such as the Brazil Express, Kona Ice, and other sweet treats, Music from Allegro Entertainment, information on ways you can take preventative measures and protect yourself from melanoma, vendors and more. If you have a group/team of 8 or more people, contact tena.harjoe@blackoutmelanoma.org to inquire about a group discount.
