Ladysmith Primary Elemental 5K Fun Run and Walk

The Elemental 5K Fun Run and Walk - Virtual 5K is presented by Ladysmith Primary School’s Parent Advisory Council (PAC).

This year, the Elemental 5K Fun Run and Walk will be a two-part event. We will be hosting a Virtual 5K Fun Run and Walk which will be open to anyone (and we mean ANYONE!) to participate between May 24th and May 31st, 2021. The other, and equally important event, will be a student and staff fundraising drive which will be happening the ENTIRE month of May. Students and staff ask friends, family, colleagues, and neighbours to donate money virtually and students and staff will earn awesome prizes based on the level of fundraising dollars they raise.

YOUR SUPPORT = RESOURCES FOR LADYSMITH PRIMARY SCHOOL

This year the Elemental Fun Run/Walk and fundraiser will be raising funds to help create an outdoor play area (on the field side of the school property) and an outdoor learning area. Fundraising by LPS PAC also helps fund resources for classrooms, field trips, swimming lessons, and artist and author visits. Thank you for supporting Ladysmith Primary School and the Mighty Dinos!

VIRTUAL 5K FUN RUN AND WALK:

This year, the Elemental Fun Run and Walk is a virtual event that promotes healthy outdoor activity and provides much needed funds/resources to Ladysmith Primary School. Price for registration this year is $10 per person. All proceeds benefit Ladysmith Primary School!

Let’s try to get people participating from every province in Canada! Or better yet, all over the world.

START TIME

You choose your start time between May 24th and May 31st, 2021. Digital badges will be awarded to those who input their completion time.

You choose your route! We have also made the previous Elemental Fun Run and Walk route available below for anyone who would like to follow tradition.

FUNDRAISING DRIVE:

Every student and staff member of Ladysmith Primary School is invited to participate in this fundraising event. To get started you will need to set up your individual fundraising page under your class team. Fundraising participants will be eligible to earn individual and team prizes.

TEAM SET UP:

Teams will be based on existing classes. Teachers will be designated as the Team Captain/Cheerleader. Educational Assistants (EAs) can join the class/team they are normally with. Should any other staff member want to participate but does not have a team, they can contact the Elemental Fun Run Committee and they will be assigned to Respectosaurus' team, The Mighty Dinos. Bonus points for unique team names!

HOW IT WORKS:

Ask friends, family, colleagues, and neighbours to click on your fundraising page and donate money in order for you to get credit towards prizes. Participating students and staff will be able to share their fundraising page link on Facebook, Twitter, email or via text message making it easy to reach your contacts for online donations. The Elemental Fun Run Committee will also provide fundraisers with instruction sheets that you can cut out and hand out to family and friends providing it is done safely and as per Provincial Health Guidelines. These instructions will help donors navigate how they can donate to a particular student or staff member and/or how to sign up for the Fun Run/Walk. Don’t forget to ask your parent’s coworkers to support your fundraising page and/or sign up for the Fun Run/Walk.

MONEY RAISED = AWESOME PRIZES!

Students and staff can earn individual and class prizes based on the level of fundraising dollars they raise. Students and staff will be part of their class team. Participants will earn individual digital badges to notify them when they reach a particular prize level.

Students and teachers earn incentive prizes for reaching a certain dollar amount. If they raise:

$300+ Old Town Bakery Cookie + Riptide Lagoon Minigolf 18 Holes + WildPlay Kids Course Pass + VRKade Token+ MYSTERY PRIZE ( revealed to be an Airhouse Drop-in Pass!)

Top 10 Student Fundraisers will also receive a McNabs Corn Maze family pass

Top 3 Class Team Fundraisers will each receive a Pizza Party for their class

Classes with 75% Participation will each receive Popcorn for the entire class

Top 5 Classes to Reach Over $1000 will earn $100 for their teachers to spend in their classrooms and Bubble Wands for each student

School Goal (Raise more than $7775) will earn each student a Freezie and a Raptors presentation for each cohort in the school

BONUS CLASS LAPS CHALLENGE:

During the month of May, students and staff will be running and counting laps during school hours - all to promote a healthy lifestyle, school spirit, and to earn some fun team prizes. Lap totals will be based on a collective class total and will be tallied by each teacher in their respective classroom.
