About Organization:

Lutherwood is a not-for-profit social service organization that provides children’s mental health, employment and housing services, which includes Safe Haven Youth Services.  Combined these divisions serve more than 19,000 people annually in Waterloo Region and Wellington County. Lutherwood helps youth, adults and families who are homeless or are risk of experiencing homelessness maintain and/or find suitable housing.    

Your donation to Safe Haven Youth Services will support vulnerable youth 12 to 18 years old.  Safe Haven offers immediate admission to our shelter on a 24 hour/7 day a week basis, to youth who are experiencing a crisis and need a safe place to stay. The crisis facing these youth is often due to family conflict and during this time of COVID-19, stresses within families are particularly high. The impact on youth mental health is significant and Safe Haven provides a safe and supportive environment for youth. Staff listen to concerns and help them to process information in a way that is meaningful, supportive and anxiety-reducing. 

No matter which Safe Haven service they are accessing, youth need a safe and caring place. Safe Haven’s essential and increased programming to accommodate the pandemic has become an even more important resource for vulnerable youth in our community.
