Please join us in this chip-timed, family-friendly 5K run/ 2K walk to feed our hungry neighbors!
Since 1999, Neighborhood Food Pantries has provided food security to our neighbors in need, as well as monetary assistance for housing, utilities, medical care/prescriptions, etc. Funds raised from this 5K event will be used to help us reach our 2021 goal to provide over 2 million meals!
We are offering a 5K chip-timed run (eligible for time awards – overall and by age group), as well as a 2K family walk.
All participants (virtual or in-person) will receive the same event t-shirt, finisher medal and other items, but ONLY IN-PERSON PARTICIPANTS are eligible for time awards.
We will continue to offer a virtual event for those who cannot make the August 7th date, or who prefer to participate in a smaller group or alternate location. This event is similar to our in-person event, but participants will complete their walk/run anywhere they choose – in your neighborhood, at a local park, or on your treadmill! All virtual participants will receive the race t-shirt and finisher medal, but will not be eligible for time awards. (Note: T-shirts and race packet must be picked up at Dick Pond Athletics on Carol Stream – no packets will be mailed).
NOTE: No Shopping Carts will be harmed during this event. Shopping Carts are for display purposes only and not allowed on the course!

Keeping Everyone Safe!
Race Day Safety Guidelines:
Please understand our goal is to provide a family friendly, fun event where everyone can “Come and Run/Walk Safely”.
With that in mind, please observe the following guidelines;
- If you have a fever, are feeling ill or have been in recent contact with someone unrecovered from COVID-19, please do NOT come to the event.
- NO SPITTING! Participants should carry their own tissues or hand towel for spitting, blowing nose, wiping sweat, etc., before, during and after their race.
- If family members or friends are attending the event with you, they must wear a face mask at all times and we ask that the do not congregate around the finish area.
- Water stations on the course and finish lines will be self serve. Volunteers will not be handing out water to eliminate contact.
USATF Certified Course
The USATF 5k course winds through beautiful Mallard Lake Forest Preserve.
Event Details
Registration and race start / finish: Mallard Lake Forest Preserve, Bloomingdale/Hanover Park, IL
Participant medals will be given to all who finish the event.
5K Run
The top 3 overall male and female runners will receive a medal
The top runners in each bracket will receive an award (overall winners are not eligible for age group medals):
13 & under
14 - 19
20 - 29
30 - 39
40 - 49
50 - 59
60 - 69
70 & over
2K Walkers will receive participant medals!
Race entry includes: bib, T-shirt, participant medal and a post race snack for all runners!
Register as a team and recruit your friends, colleagues and family members to join you! (all team members receive a $5 registration discount!)
COME IN COSTUME!!! The top three finishers in a food-related costume will receive an award!
