Our Story
A Special Sense of Belonging
Team Guild for Human Services is running in the 2021 Flutie 5k for Autism: Dougie's Epic Adventure so that we can educate, encourage and empower individuals with intellectual disabilities so they may achieve their full potential to lead high-quality lives and participate meaningfully in society.
The Guild is known for its year-round, community-based programming for individuals with intellectual disabilities who have complex needs, including autism and behavioral/mental health challenges. The Guild’s population benefits from our extended-year academic instruction and/or full-year residential services.
The Guild provides services for school-aged males and females, ages 6 to their 22nd birthday, who require day and/or residential educational services. The Guild also offers a residential services program for adults who have celebrated their 22nd birthday.
For more than 65 years, The Guild has met the needs of vulnerable populations and we are grateful for your support!
Description
Help our team reach our goal for the 2021 Flutie 5k for Autism: Dougie's Epic Adventure, to raise critical funds for the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism to help people and families affected by autism live life to the fullest!
Former NFL Quarterback, Doug Flutie, and his wife Laurie started the Doug Flutie, Jr. Flutie Foundation for Autism in 1998 after their son, Dougie, was diagnosed with autism at the age of three. Their personal experience of raising a son on the autism spectrum inspired them to help others on an equally long and challenging journey. Over its 23-year history, the Flutie Foundation has distributed over $15 million to partner schools and organizations who provide clinical therapies, respite services, recreational programs, social skills training, job supports and more for people and families affected by autism. The Flutie Foundation also provides direct financial support to families through initiatives like education technology tools, adaptive camp scholarships, safety equipment, to provide immediate help where it's needed the most.
