Join us for a virtual charity fun-run initiated in memory of Simcoe County community member and philanthropist Dr. Amanda Kelsall. This year funds will be raised to help Youth Haven-Barrie. As well as the The Ottawa Mission hosted by UOttawa team.

Virtual Activities (run/walk/and more!!) taking place from May 10 - 30. Register, customize and share your personal fundraising pledge form, get moving as much as you want over 3 weeks taking pictures of your km run on your favourite app and posting them to win prizes and connect with a community of runners! With our extra kilometers we've decided to circle around some important areas to Amanda and her family in Ghana.

Domkorkrom, Ghana (383km from Accra): The location of Amanda's summer elective

Sogakope, Ghana (109km from Accra, 484km from Dorkorkrom): The village that Amanda's sponsored child, Charlotte, is from!

Ghana has a special meaning for Amanda Kelsall and the Kelsall family.

In 2013, Amanda did a medical elective to Ghana. (“Elective Ghana” which is now listed on the UOttawa list of medical elective opportunities as Amanda had told the director she would advocate for EG).

When Amanda was doing her undergrad at Queens she sponsored a little girl named Charlotte from Ghana through an organization called International Needs (IN). She didn’t get to meet Charlotte on that medical elective in 2013, though she did try. In 2017, John and Sharon had the privilege of travelling to Ghana with IN and went to Charlotte’s very remote village and met her at her school!

To this day, the Kelsall family continues to support IN and Ghana, even sponsoring Winner, whose birthday is miraculously on the same month and day as Amanda's. Winner is from the same community Charlotte lives in.
