My Story…
Greetings to all of you, my wonderful long time or new supporters of the Refugee Sponsorship program at Islington United Church! This is the 41st year of refugee sponsorship at Islington and the 13th year of our participation in the Scotiabank run/walk fundraiser. As captain of our enthusiastic Running and Walking for Refugees team I am excited to be lacing up the ol' running shoes again! Due to the pandemic, we are doing a socially distant virtual event again this year (in a park) and hope to raise $10,000. Thank you so much for your support which will give new beginnings to the lives of our refugee newcomers.

Interested in changing the lives of others for the better in a direct and compelling way? The “Running and Walking for Refugees Team” at Islington United Church would love to have you join us. For 41 years we have sponsored refugee families and individuals worldwide. Over a 12-month period we provide a safe, secure and welcoming environment including accommodation, furnishings, clothing, food, transportation, medical care, education, employment opportunities and friendship.
