I Run With Refugees
This is my 8th Run for Adam House! Through your GENEROUS support, I have exceeded my fundraising goals for each of my 7 previous runs! To God Be the Glory!
This year, because of Covid-19, the format will be a little different. Rather than running with thousands of other participants from Ontario Place to Nathan Phillips Square, I will have the privilege of running with other Adam House supporters and some of the refugees they serve. We will run 8.5k from Adam House on Gladstone to their new home in the east end.
Why do I care about this cause? Fifty-nine years ago my family arrived in Toronto as refugees from Harbin, China. My father, a Russian pastor missionary, had just passed away. My mother, a young widow with 6 children, had to leave China very quickly. When we arrived in Toronto we were very fortunate to have very many generous, wonderful people who helped my family adjust and settle in this blessed, beautiful, and bountiful country. Not a day goes by that I don’t remember—my ❤️ so full of gratitude.
So my beloved, at 73+ I am willing to do my very best and more for refugees, but I can’t do it without your help! So please, please partner with me once again. Together we are making a difference in so many lives!

Where would you go if you had nothing and you knew no one?
Having nothing and knowing no one is often just the beginning of the barriers new refugees face. Often times there is a language barrier. Refugee claimants are dealing with numerous issues-trauma that was experienced in their home country and on their journey to Canada, and often living with the anguish of leaving family behind.
Adam House provides refugee claimants with clean and safe living accommodations. The staff at Adam House provide assistance and advice with immigration procedures, primarily to residents and former residents. They provide referrals to legal services, medical assistance, and community resources. However, Adam House is much more than shelter or the services they provide. Adam House is home. A place where residents find friendship and support-from staff and each other.
Every dollar raised enables Adam House to continue welcoming refugees.
