My Story…

2021 ScotiaBank 5K Charity Challenge Walk … Making the Most of Your Donation

This message is an update on the status of the World Parkinson’s Program’s ( WPP )2021 5K Charity Walk, thanking those who so generously donated and reminding those who would still like to donate, that there’s little time to do so - where 100% of your donation goes directly to the WPP.

The World Parkinson's Program (WPP), a registered Canadian Charity, has, for over 12 years, been helping people living with Parkinson's disease (PD) around the world, with free medication, treatments and programs - people who could not access or afford the meds and programs readily available to most of us.

Last year, when I saw the work being done by the WPP and understood the changes they were making in the lives of so many, I had to join in and help them reach others, living with the same brain disease as I.

So, in 2020 I registered with the ScotiaBank Charity Challenge 5K Walk for the 4th year, this time though, as a member of the WPP. Due to Covid restrictions and that being our first effort as Team WPP, we had a sparse turnout of volunteers / Walkers / fundraisers.

This year, on October 17th, it was a beautifully sunny day in Ajax, Ontario, when a group of 20 volunteers came together to participate in the 5K Charity Challenge - we had an eclectic mix of family and friends, young and old, neighbours and those who travelled quite a distance - all making a difference in the lives of those less fortunate, living with Parkinson’s.

I’m here now to thank those of you who so generously donated - with your donations, we’ve reached more than $5,000.00 !!

I’m also here to remind those of you who may have thought you’d missed the opportunity to donate, that there’s still time to make that donation happen. The 2021 ScotiaBank 5K Charity Challenge campaign will close it’s donation portal on Monday November 15th…

Please, donate to the World Parkinson’s Program.

Your generosity, will make a world of difference.

Thanks to all of you,

Shane McPhee
