I am raising money to raise funds for research on spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD). SCAD is a poorly understood cause of a heart attack that suddenly took the life of my healthy, active kid sister in 2011. She was only 51 years old.
SCAD is caused when a sudden tear occurs within the layers of one or more arteries to the heart. This tear blocks blood flow causing a heart attack and sometimes death.
SCAD Research, Inc (SRI), an all-volunteer 501C3 charity) was started by my brother-in-law to raise funds to support the most promising research. SRI has raised and donated over $1 million to research since we started. in 2011.
