Our story…
In 2020 our family’s heart broke as we were faced with a terrifying cancer diagnosis of our nine year old son, Chase. It has been such a long road and we still have many months ahead. Our boy continues his fight and he does it with positivity, kindness and even more compassion than we could ever have expected. The time we’ve spent apart, making the necessary trips back and forth to Vancouver where Chase receives life saving treatment, would feel impossible if not for the love and support of our YANA family and the incredible community who rallies around this beautiful organization every year. Because of YANA, we’ve had an apartment close to BC Childrens to call our temporary home, money to pay for essentials and a team of amazing superheroes backing us every step of the way. In August, Team Petersen will participate in the YANA ride for the second year. We will ride for Chase and to bring awareness to the wonderful work YANA does for Comox Valley Families. Every dollar raised in the community goes to help provide financial support and accommodation to Comox Valley families who need to travel to access medical care for a child or pregnant mother.
$50 = 1 night stay at a YANA apartment in Vancouver near BC Children’s Hospital
$100 = 1 night stay near Nanaimo Hospital
$200 = YANA envelope of cash for family’s emergency hospital transfer
$400 = 2 weeks stay at Jeneece Place in Victoria
$1000 = 1 month travel expense funding for a family away from home
