The EVENT: SUMMER SOLSTICE 21k - by Land or Water!
Our rowing team loves to do the Summer Solstice 21k. However, spending so much time on the rowing machines and in 1x’s this past year, we wanted to have some fun doing this in large boats as a team. Giving them that option morphed into, let’s invite others to join us and have some fun making it into a competition! Join us!

How it works:
This site will help us collect your results virtually! So, it looks a little different than our usual registration sites for rowing. It is very basic! Your DOB, will divide you for final placings, as well as the the information you list for each individual. Don't worry!
- Choose how you want to compete
- Individually – on Rowing Machine, 1x on the Water.
- Team – Boats on water! 2x, 4x, 4+, or 8+.
- Adaptive - on Rowing Machine, 1x, or 2x on the Water.
- Registration
- All individuals/team members must register. (Including coxswains)
- Teams: Select - Add Team Name. Then add your team!
- Waivers are due at the time of registration. All individuals must log in and sign their own waiver.
- Tank Tops are optional add on. You can choose to Pick Up your tank top or pay to have it mailed to you. Mailing fee is $3.00.
- Timeline
- Registration opens June 1st at 8am (CST), and Closes June 18th at 12 pm (CST)
- You have ONE week to complete the competition.
- Results can be posted June 19th through June 26th.
- Posting results
- Results MUST include: Total Time and Distance. (No fancy monitor needed!)
- Use the Race Roster App or Website to upload your results
- Rowing Machine - Use the memory function to recall final info and send screen pic from phone as a result
- From the water: 1) Take a pic of the Speed Coach and send that in OR Use a distance GPS and upload those results to the app/website.
- Awards
- Having some fun is the main award!
- Medals will be awarded to the Top Place Finishes in Each Event Category. These will be mailed to one member of the team/boat.
- Final Results
- Results will be announced and posted online once all information is verified.
- Some athletes/team boat placing may shift due to handicaps results being factored into final time, as well as racing categories.
Boat Classifications
1x: A single is defined as a rowing shell that has 1 rower.
2x: A double is defined as a rowing shell that has 2 rowers, and 4 sculling oars. No coxswain.
4x: A quad is defined as a rowing shell that has 4 rowers, and 16 sculling oars. No coxswain.
4+: A four is defined as a rowing shell that has 4 rowers and 1 coxswain, 4 sweep oars.
8+: An eight is defined as a rowing shell that has 8 rowers and 1 coxswain, 8 sweep oars.
Guidelines for Competition
Mixed Events: Must have a 50/50 split of Men/Women rowers, or more Women than Men.
Masters: Any rower over 21 years of age. Handicaps will be given per USRowing formulas based off date of birth and age in the calendar year.
Open: Any rower between the age of 19-21, or currently enrolled at a college or university.
Youth: A rower younger than 19 years of age, who is currently attending middle or high school. Exceptions are given to those who just graduated in May and June of this calendar year and have not yet enrolled in their first day of college or university.
Adaptive: Any rower with physical, visual or intellectual impairments.
