The SMSS will be putting on our 18th annual fundraising event, Miles for Smiles on Saturday, September 11th 2021. We are hoping to go ahead with an in person walk/run held in Rotary Park with 2.5km, 5km and 10km races. If this is not possible, we are planning for a virtual race.
All proceeds raised will go towards the Nēwo Yōtina Friendship Centre in Regina.
Miles for Smiles is an event organized by medical students at the University of Saskatchewan that welcomes community members and individuals of all abilities and promotes healthy and active lifestyles.

As you may know, Saskatchewan is in the middle of an overdose crisis and the medical students at the University of Saskatchewan have decided that it is of great importance to raise funds for safe consumption sites like these. Their vision is to reduce the personal and community impact of drug overdose, HIV, AIDS, and Hepatitis C. The Nēwo Yōtina Friendship Centre uses a low-barrier harm reduction model of service to support individuals with addiction via a brand new safe consumption site, housing, and mental health support, and a variety of other programs. With our current government unwilling to fund such important community health prevention services, it is up to the community to step up and we would greatly appreciate your help.
If you would like to make a separate monetary donation to add to our grand total to be donated to NYFC from the Miles for Smiles event, please mail a cheque/cash to our Fundraising representative at the Student Medical Society of Saskatchewan:

Please note that a residential address is being used due to Covid-19 restrictions on university building access and we did not want to lose any donations as a result of these changing restrictions. Unfortunately, we can not offer charitable donation tax receipts this year since both the Student Medical Society of Saskatchewan and our chosen charity NYFC are nonprofit organizations and not fully-registered charities as of yet.
