MAHDS and Tail Chase Present the Spring into Summer Challenge 2021
The Challenge: Compete in any discipline at any time during the 3 day span (Friday to Sunday). Enter your results online at Race Roster.
You can enter as many classes as you like as many times as you like and we highly recommend taking as many pictures as possible!
While this event is Virtual, we hope that athletes will be able to run with friends and club mates as much as is allowed by public health guidelines.
We also are introducing the Club Challenge. All club members times will be averaged to find the club with the fastest average time. Not a club member? Check with MAHDS to see how you could become one!
Draw prizes will be available in this event, but you can only win if you enter!
New to Canicross? Reach out to us for some helpful tips and suggestions for equipment, or for contacts to the various MAHDS Clubs throughout the Maritimes.

Safety Notes:
- Please be sure to respect your local distancing requirements
- Practice safe sport:
- Dogs must be 12 months old to participate in the 3KM events and at least 10 Months to compete in the 1 KM events.
- Helmets for wheeled classes
- Necklines for dual dog classes
- Properly fitted harness designed for pulling for all classes
- For canicross, a harness with back attachment and hands-free leash is acceptable, though a properly fitted pulling harness, bungee line and canicross belt are highly recommended.
- Where to run:
- Abrasive surfaces like asphalt and concrete are not appropriate for harness dog sports, as they pose significant risk to your dog's paw pads and joints. Protect your dog's health and stick to trails comprised of non-abrasive surfaces like dirt, grass, crusher dust, or gravel!
- Heat Guidelines
- As temperatures start to creep up, be sure to get your run in earlier in the day or later in the evening and provide access to a cooling station (stream or pool) where your dog can cool off after their run!
