Our 2020 virtual run was a HUGE success for participants and BIST – a big THANK YOU to everyone who participated last year!
In light of the ongoing pandemic and out of concern for the safety of our participants and volunteers, the 11th Annual BIST Heroes Run, Walk or Roll will also be a virtual event.
Throughout the pandemic we have continued to provide support to people with brain injuries, providing connections and much needed supports and services - but now we need YOUR help. With the money raised from our virtual run last year, we were able to continue providing a plethora of virtual and in-person supports to our members, reducing feelings of social isolation, depression and anxiety and assisting with needs such as housing and food security. We are calling all heroes of brain injury to break out your superhero costumes and make this virtual run your very own! Whether you are a survivor, family member, caregiver, health care or legal professional, or a caring and concerned individual - YOU are a hero of brain injury!
We will once again be holding this event over a 2 weekend timespan starting October 1, 2021 which includes Thanksgiving weekend. Due to rave reviews, we are also bringing back the option to complete a 1k, 5k or 10k in support of BIST! We invite you to complete the run individually, with immediate family, or your “Superhero Squad” while adhering to current public health guidelines. Go explore a park, trail, or neighbourhood you have never been to before, and help us spread awareness, raise funds, and have fun all at the same time!
Event Launch - September 26, 2021
T-shirt and Swag Bag Pick Up - September 26th, 2021 at Wilket Creek Park 10am - Noon
Participants will have a chance to pick up their goods at our traditional race site, mingle with others, and enjoy some fun and refreshments. Participants can also complete their run that day and log their time! Special prizes will be handed out and the Pie-Your-People fun will take place - more details on all the excitement to come!

- Access to the Run Keeper/Strava

Please note - You MUST register before August 31, 2021 in order to receive your t-shirt and medal (or gift card) by race day.
How does a virtual race work?
Once you are registered you will be emailed a link to sign up for Run Keeper/Strava app. You can download this app, link it to your RaceRoster account and once you've logged on your race day, your results will automatically be sent to RaceRoster. Alternatively, you can document your time and send it in to RaceRoster without the app. Contact info@bist.ca if you require support setting this up.

Fundraising Details

BIST is a non-profit organization and our mission is to provide FREE programs and services for survivors of brain injury and their families. All funds raised will go towards supporting these programs and services, such as our social drop-ins, community meetings, workshops, and support groups.
Make sure to create your own individual or team fundraising pledge page or contact info@bist.ca to request a paper form. Donations of $20 or more will receive a tax receipt by e-mail.
NEW THIS YEAR! This year, for every $5000 raised, a BIST committee or board member will get a pie in the face, with a video to be shown on the BIST social media pages!
PIE YOUR PEOPLE! For every team that raises $1,000 or more they will be given the opportunity to pie their boss, peer, friend or family member at our Launch Event on September 26, 2021 - Team Leader chooses who gets pied!
***Survivor members of BIST can cover their registration fee through fundraising. Send your name, address, telephone number, age, whether you will be running or walking, and your shirt size to info@bist.ca as soon as possible to register and secure your spot. A fundraising form will be emailed to you and you can begin collecting pledges***
