Sorry, the event is cancelled for 2021. It was a difficult decision but we only had 9 athletes registered 3 weeks prior to the race. We hope to be back in 2022.

There is an October 2021 race at Promised Land and I'll be part of it. Just search under schuylkill river runners.

Promised Land Challenge 2021 Medal

The race features exciting running through the remote roads of Promised Land State Park.

2021 marks the Second Year for the event. Reviews by the athletes were excellent!

All athletes will receive:

• socks with artwork
• finisher's medal
• event tech shirt
• Hawaiian lei
• post race food

The Course:

Please see the course map (The marathon is 4 loops. The half marathon is two loops and the 5k and 10k follow the loop out to a turnaround then head back to the finish).

To complete each loop, you simply touch and turn on the timing mat at the end of each loop and head back out on the course.

The course winds around the lake. The lowest point on the course is 1737' and the highest point is 1824'. There are some elevation gains but nothing steep or long. Please see the elevation map in the mapmyrun link to determine if the course meets your racing needs.

The course is mainly tree covered by the forest canopy and offers a lot of shade.

All of the course is on 100% paved roads.

The marathon course will be certified. We will post once the course certification number is approved. We guarantee that you will run on a marathon certified course!

Check-in and race day registration on August 21, 2021

• Begins at 6:00 am
• Pavilion at Promised Land State Park
• 100 Lower Lake Rd., Greentown, PA.

Race start times:

• Marathon & Half Marathon: 07:00
• 10k 07:15
• 5k 07:30

Early starts are available at 06:15 am and 06:30. The marathon course closes at 1 pm. That means that if you start at 06:15 am, you'll 6 hours and 45 minutes to complete your race.

GPS location:

• The race starts and finishes on North Shore Road near the intersection at Rte 390 in the park. You'll see parking signs at 390/North Shore Road. There is plenty of parking next to the start/finish area.

Our events are known for being well-organized, having great schwag, excellent post race food...and all finishers receive a medal and an Hawaiian lei!

The finisher's medals are make of wood to reflect the area you are racing in.
