My Story…
Our Baby Corey was stillborn on February 13, 2020. At 22 weeks into our second pregnancy we chose to induce labor after a fatal fetal diagnosis. Through the weeks of appointments, second opinions and tests leading up to that date, we received advice from a genetic counselor regularly. When he first told us about NILMDTS we brushed the idea off as morbid and uncomfortable. However, after hearing from and reading about families who had endured similar pain, I decided to arrange for the photo session. The photos turned out heartbreakingly beautiful and are now proudly displayed in our home. The physical reminders of him have been a surprisingly healing part of my grieving process. As if his photos make him (and keep him) real, even though we had to say goodbye before we really got to say hello.
While I wish I had no reason to know about NILMDTS, I now know from personal experience how impactful and important their mission is. Funds raised help them attract, train and retain professional volunteer photographers to make it happen.
If you're able to donate in honor of Baby Corey, know that you're helping another family like ours get through their toughest days the way those who have donated before did for us.
<3 Much love, The Kastaneks
