My Story…
My daughter, Lexi has been living with epilepsy for 8 years.
8 years of numerous doctors appointments, MRI’s, CT’s, EEG’s, bloodwork, medication changes, medication side effects, countless testing … all without complaint. This girl is a true EPILEPSY WARRIOR. She lives on and moves past without question. Her gentle spirit and wise analogies are well beyond her years.
As her new team of specialists in London believe she has DRE (drug resistant) epilepsy, she has been chosen as a child (1 in 8 every two years) to be studied to determine and learn more about her epilepsy. They are looking to see if there may be other methods of treatment more suited to her needs. These may include neurosurgery, dietary changes, cannabis etc. They are also hoping to learn more about her type of epilepsy to faster treat future patients successfully.
With this news, we feel hope and fear, happiness and sadness. This will mean more extensive testing, more trips to London, and countless doctor appointments and decision making. Our mission remains the same: to keep searching for answers, cures, solutions to better ways for her to navigate through her beautiful bright future ahead.
This epilepsy fundraiser walk is just one way that you can too help those in need in the Windsor area to have access to funding for education and research in the search to cure epilepsy!
