Ray's Run is in loving memory of one of our former Executive Directors,

Ray Helton

COL (Ret) Emory “Ray” Helton, 66, finished his race on September 2, 2019, after an arduous battle with pancreatic cancer. As an avid runner, Ray ran many marathons, including the Boston Marathon, and founded the Marathon Training Group with the Fayetteville Running Club. In 2014, Ray started volunteering at Operation Inasmuch, and then upon retiring from the Army he became the Executive Director. During the time Ray served at FAOIAM, he saw the ministry expand to include a men’s transitional facility -- “The Lodge”. It was his greatest joy to share his faith and to see lives transformed as he partnered with the people and the ministry of Fayetteville Area Operation Inasmuch.

THE LODGE

The Able-Life Program is a transitional program for homeless men who want to change their lives. Each man commits to: create realistic financial, social and spiritual goals, become drug and alcohol-free, get a job, and treat others in the program with dignity and respect. Our facility focuses on providing a multi-phase process for homeless men ready to rejoin the workforce and regain independence. We provide a place to sleep every night, financial planning meetings, Bible studies, and other helpful opportunities for these men to get their life back on track.

All Proceeds will benefit The Lodge & Able Life program that Ray Helton Championed. It costs approx. $240,000 to operate The Lodge on an annual basis.
