My Story…
Hello!! I am back again! 24 years at JCYC and counting. Last year we sharpened out focus on Social Equity. The work is far from done. BIPOC and Queer Communities continue to be seen and treated as lesser communities. That must end! Please consider supporting the effort to do so through this event!
BIG THANK YOU to everyone who has generously supported the organizations and young people uplifted by JCYC's Aloha Run through the years! Your dollars have change lives for the better. Let's change some more! Funds raised this year will support (please click the hyperlinks for more info) :
1. LYRIC - provides education, career trainings, health promotion, and leadership development for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQQ) youth, their families, and allies of all races, classes, genders, and abilities.
2. Tsuru for Solidarity - a direct action project working to close all U.S. concentration camps, build solidarity with other communities of color that have experienced forced removal, detention, deportation, separation of families, and coordinate intergenerational, cross-community healing circles addressing the trauma of our shared histories.
3. Hawai'i Peoples Fund - HPF is the only organization in the world specifically addressing the needs of grassroots progressive movement builders in Hawaiʻi by directing community-raised funds and progressive funding opportunities to those on the ground engaged in the work.
4. JCYC Scholarship Programs - Thomatra Scott Scholarship Fund and other scholarships for low-income, first generation college students.
Bonus - If I raise 10K, I'll run the 10K.
