The Big South 5K Road Race serves as a fundraiser for middle school athletic programs in the Charlotte area, including schools in Mecklenburg, Union and York. Since the inaugural race in 2010, the race has raised nearly $175,000 for middle school athletics.
Race registration comes with a custom Big South 5K shirt! Age group winners receive a medal.
Categories
Individual Runner/Walker Division
Sign up to run or walk the Big South 5K. This is a great way to set a personal record or run in your first ever 5K!
Corporate Team Division
Represent your company the best way possible: a road race! It's a terrific way to build team spirit and compete for various prizes that will be awarded to the top-finishing teams. To register as a team, click on the Register button and have each member of your group select the same team name.
Community Team Division
Running doesn’t need to be an individual effort; friends and families can create a team to run the Big South 5K! Bring as many people as you can to join your team. To register as a team, click on the Register button and have each member of your group select the same team name.
Volunteering
Looking for an opportunity to impact your community, gain volunteer hours, or simply enjoy a morning of fun, fellowship, and servitude? If so, we’re looking for you too!
Volunteering for the Big South 5K is always a great opportunity to make a difference in our community, specifically for the middle school boys and girls athletic programs in the local area! If you or your organization have an interest in assisting us with race setup/breakdown, water/food stations or course oversight, your help would be greatly appreciated!

All volunteers will be receiving volunteer shirts, food, and other items as a thank you for their generosity and service to the community!
Registration Policies
No Refunds!
If participant indicates a middle school affiliation during the registration process, a percentage of the registration fees will go toward the athletic booster club for the school. Additional donations beyond the registration fee can be made to the school of your choice during the registration “check out."
